The rule that I use to judge how good a restaurant is to see how packed the parking lot is and how hard it is to get a table. Using that criteria, this restaurant is very good. We were able to get in here on a Monday night, when most of the county was in the midst of a crippling power outage. The restaurant and the mall were relatively empty and we were able to get a table after waiting about 20 minutes.
After a couple of days in a freezing powerless house, the server seated us next to the fireplace. It was a very welcome and appreciated gesture. Olive Garden will not win any culinary awards, but what it does, it does very good. We had some of the specials, the ones that you see advertised on TV. Our server was good, he even took care of a special request that my wife made.
The problem with the Rockaway Mall is that for a large mall, there are very few sit down restaurants in the mall area where you can get a meal like this. This is one of the reasons why this restaurant is packed and always has a line. Will we return, of course, just when they do not have a line. I hope it does not take another major power outage to cause that.
