Had a meal here this past weekend with hopes it would be a good first impression of Turkish food but unfortunately it was the opposite. We met another couple and their 2 daughter's and a friend of their older daughters so it was 7 heads total.

Place was dimly lit, it was about 6:30PM on a rainy humid Sunday night. The air conditioner was on but it didn't seem to cool the entire place so as the compressor kicked in you would get a bit of nice cool air which would suck the humidity out for about 10 minutes, then nothing for like 30 minutes. So comfort was not ideal but I wasn't going to let that ruin a meal.

I ordered the Tilapia special and wife ordered a Mixed Grill, no apps just the bread and pepper dip that we had to flag down our waiter for more bread on a few occasions. My meal was as described by the waiter but just terrible, salty and loaded with oil and my wife's was just not edible, she had a fork full then ate some of mine because it was more edible than her's. We had to ask or water more than once and it was not busy in there at all, no attentiveness from staff. To top off the meal, it was not cheap, wife's mixed grill was 25 and mine was 21 after tip, 54 for the night, no drink just water, no apps!

The others ate their meals but also explained to us upon departing for the night that they were turned off by the service, quality and atmosphere of Lisa's Kitchen. It was a big disappointment for us all as we had high hopes and read good reviews.

Would I go back or refer anyone, not a chance!

The owner would not honor a gift certificate and was both unprofessional and rude! Food was never that good and is now overpriced. Too many other good restaurants in Ridgewood with friendly owners and staff. Will never go back after the way I was treated.

We ate at Lisa's several times when it was on Chestnut Street. Last night was our first time at the new digs a block away. Very impressive interior. The food was as good as always. (We had the Hunkar Begendi with lamb; bronzino; Lisa's Salad: and hummus.) It was pretty crowded and it took us 15 minutes to get our sodas; had to ask three times for them, then they came without ice because they ran out. Not impressed with that, but we'd still come back.

Fodd was good as usual, but the prices have gone up too high for the quantity and quantity, and the deserts are way over priced. I guess the move and being out of business for so long gave Lisa no choice.

We visited Lisa's on a recent Friday night, without a reservation. The restaurant was crowded with nearly every seat taken, yet the staff was able to accommodate us and we were seated within 5 minutes. The service was good, although it took longer than expected for our entrees to come out. To their credit, however, the restaurant was quite busy and the staff was apologetic for our delay. The food was well worth the wait! We had an absolutely delicious meal with three entrees (two chicken and one lamb -- hard to say which was best because they were all outstanding) plus appetizers and dessert. We were more than satisfied with our meals, after which the owner came by and we had a lovely conversation. We can't wait to go back!
