We were looking for a family friendly hotel to stay at for our trip to New York City. We found it! The Hampton Inn (this one anyways) was perfect. And the price was even better. We drove from Ottawa to New Jersey so we had access to a car.

After eating our free breakfast at the hotel, we'd hop in our car and drive to the Vince Lombardi Park & Ride (which is a 5 min. drive from the hotel) and then get on the bus to take us to the Port Authority in New York City (42nd and 7th street) (about a 10 min bus ride). The total cost each day for the 4 of us to park our car and have return fare was about $14! Considering it costs on average $25 a day to park in NYC, this was perfect and convenient too.

The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. We highly recommend this hotel when visiting New York City. It is tricky getting into the hotel right off the hwy but after you do it once, its no problem.

We like the Hampton Inn brand and the Ridgefield Park didn't disappoint. We stayed two nights to see the Yankees and the City. The room was clean and spacious, with two big queen beds. The pool was just the right size and temp. as well as clean. The kids loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful, giving me tips about going to Yankee Stadium. The breakfast was exactly what i expected, good healthy choices and enough to fill you up without having to go to Denny's, etc. The location was nice, very close to the Vince Lombardi Park n Ride for direct tranportation to the city. Yes, it can be a little tricky the first time you come up on the entrance, but not that bad as previously mentioned. You get used to it fast. Overall, for the price, compared to staying in the City, you can't beat it. The next time the family goes to NYC to see the Yankees(lose to the Orioles, haha. Go O's) we will definitely stay there.

We stayed at the Hamptom Inn for the simple reason that it was a good value. After searching for a reasonable hotel in Manhattan, we decided to stay in NJ and take the bus to Port Authority. We had stayed there several years ago, and found that the hotel was better than our first stay--and it was good then. One thing that set it apart was the helpfulness of the staff--the folks at the front desk gave us a printed list of local restaurants and printed directions to the Vince Lombardi Park and Ride--where we took the bus to NYC. The huge advantaage of this location is that it is about a 5 minute drive to the park and ride, and the bus from the park and ride takes aboutr 20 minutes to get to Manhattan. The Port Authority bus terminal links up to all the subway lines. This is a great location for seeing the sights in Manhattan.
The other plus about this hotel is the complimentary breakfast. There is a lot of choice, the food is good and the staff is very attentive. I highly recommend staying at the Hampton Inn for business or for a base for seeing NYC.

I booked this hotel through our corporate system, due to the proximity of business I was conducting in the area. I read through the other reviews, and noticed the "dangerous entry" but honestly, I wondered "How bad can it be?" I tell you...it is bad. The exit for a major highway (95) and a highway (46, I believe) make entry to the hotel tricky...even using the neighboring gas station. Other than that.....the staff was first rate, the rooms were nice (a definate value) and the extras were very good.
My only recommendations (2) deal with the same problem LOCATION. 1) Dangerous entry to the hotel and 2) Very tricky to get any where...because it is on a highway you have to travel a couple miles to find a turn around to go the other direction (difficult to explain, but if you are ever here you'll understand). There is a nice Japanese place accross the highway, but to get to it, you have to go 2mi down the highway, exit, come back on the highway (the other way) to reach it...to get back to the hotel, you have to drive 2-3 miles extra.

Have stayed at this Hampton Inn on serveral occasions since 2004 but probably will not continue to do so. The entry into the hotel from Rte 46 is terribly hazardous. On occasion we have found it safer to take the entry into the gas station next door and loop back round into the hotel parking lot. On our last stay there was a overpowering smell of carpet deodorizer throughout the hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds quite comfortable but we have noticed that towels in the bathroom are in short supply. Rooms on the Route 46 side of the hotel are very noisy with trucks hurtling down the exit ramp from NJ turnpike as well as heavy traffic 24/7 on Route 46.

My husband spent a week here when he was scheduled for a business seminar. The hotel was set up by his busniess travel dept. The first return back to his room after a full day ( 8-9 hours)of training he came back to his room to find all the snacks & teas I had painstakenly wrapped were removed from his room. He had to go to the front desk to find the following items: a baggie of tea bags which were found in a trash bin, a plastic container of homemade cookies, a large baggie of crackers, a small baggie of crackers, a large baggie of fruit twists, a small baggie of dired apples, a tin of trail mix , a small tupperware of chai tea mix all sitting on the cleaning crews cart. Now mind you before i tell you why they were there, that there is a frig in the room he had. When he inquired about the items that were missing the desk personal translated what the cleaning crew said "they didn't want to get the cleaning chemicals on the food" OH YEAH! then why not put it in the frig? & Why not return it back into the room? Remeber now, this is after 6 pm in the evening. Any why were the tea bags in the trash bin? Needless to say my husband chose to not have them enter his room for the remaining days of that week forfeiting a clean room & fresh towels. Now let's talk about this so called breakfast, if you call kielbasa, cold french toast sticks & other frozen pre made items a good breakfast well then I feel sorry for you. In other words, it's a nice try but it wasn't what I would call a hot breakfast, cold cereal & muffins would be better.
We both work at the same company & we will both make sure that this place is scratched off the list of places to book for future seminars in that area. STAY AWAY fromt his place, shame on them!!

We had a reservation for Hampton Inn in Seacaucus NJ, but when I downloaded directions I googled "Hampton Inn Secaucus NJ" and then clicked clover "I'm feeling lucky" button. Unknown to me at the time, that brought me to Hampton Inn in Ridgefield Park. I got directions, and, needless to say, we arrived at wrong Hampton Inn (in Ridgefield Park). Finally discovered that a little typo - leaving out the 1st "a" in Seacaucus -caused google to bring me to Ridgefield Park site. Have no idea why.
When we went to check in the Hampton Inn rep noticed we that we had reservation for Seacaucus (I had made orig reservation and printed confirmation from right website), and said "this always happens", but he didn't know why. Hmmmm, maybe others have done same typo as us. Anyway he called Seacaucus and cancelled, and we took room here.
Room was fine, beds were comfortable, continental breakfast was adequate. Agree with other posts that it is difficult to access hotel from highway. Hampton Inn rep gave us a great recommendation for a little Italian restaurant that was great, but we got lost on way back -- we weren't far from hotel but highways were very confusing and signage was non existent.
On the plus side, room was about $50 less than comparable one in Seacaucus.
I emailed google with problem, but noticed as of today if you google "Hampton Inn Secaucus" and click I'm feeling lucky it still brings you to Ridgefield Park!!
