“terrible food.”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

This is our second attempt to this place. First time we could not go because they don't take credit cards. So we returned again... What a mistake. My friends had a combo dish, choice of 2-3 burito, taco etc. 2 for ~$17. Tiny portions. I ordered a cheese quesadilla. I literally got a flat crepe-looking tortilla with spreaded melted cheese. It was almost fried and disgusting looking. No sour creme, no guacamole. Did not even try to make it look pleasant. Also they don't serve any alcoholic beverages. But allow you to bring your own. For a neighborhood with Mexican and Latino residents, this place is not doing Mexican culture justice. Bottom line- don't waste your money in this place.

“Great Food, Good price!!”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Been there with friends and family many times. Always a delight, prices are good, food is great and their new location across the street is nice and comfortable! Service is always prompt and friendly, it does sometimes get crowded and noisy!

“Great food”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Heard about Tortugas and had to try it while I was in Princeton. The food was great, we felt like we were eating in Mexico. Be careful though you might miss it. Make sure you go to the one in Princeton, not In Hamilton.

“Excellent food... that's about it, but still worth it”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

This restaurant just has great food. Great menu, affordable, some of the best refried beans, chips and salsa (especially noteworthy) and burritos I have ever had. Also the steak sandwich is an excellent portion with great taste. The place is also clean and has a great bathroom whatever that's worth. But they really could be friendlier. Each time we come in there it's like we've almost never been there before. Nobody is rude or mean but when we are return customers elsewhere we see more excitement, people are more appreciative, etc. Food still worth the trip.

“Adequate food in homey setting”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

My test is how well a Mexican restaurant does enchiladas. Last week the avocado filled (veggie) ones were well above average; the chicken ones were well stuffed but nothing special in the taste department. The refried beans got a thumbs up; the rice was pedestrian; the red sauce was ho-hum. The salsa and chips rated among the best that I've had anywhere. We entered for lunch at 12.30 pm and were out the door by 1.00pm. I think I'll be back but probably not for six months or more.
