“great food - horrible experience or have a little anger with that fish”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2008

My colleagues and I were treated to a hissy fit by Executive Chef Brian in a very rude and unprofessional manner for no justifiable cause

Brian needed the table cleared by 7:30 for another party. No problem with that - the Blue Point Grille is a business after all. The problem was the rude treatment we received. At 7pm. Brian aggressively addressed my colleague who made our reservation and proceeded to outline the terms and conditions under which he would or would not serve our dinners. He outlined no uncertain terms; he told us we did not meet his expectations. Brian dressed down my colleague in the middle of the restaurant while the other patrons looked on. Here are a few paraphrases from his diatribe:

Guarantee' that you will 'vacate' by 7:30 or I will not put through your orders
I will never do business with your company again
You made a reservation for 10 and show up only with 7!!!!!
Make up your minds - should I put through your order or not

Brian's rant lasted about 5 minutes. We decided not to complete our plans for a nice celebratory dinner. We hailed our waiter, paid our bill, and had dinner elsewhere.

“Stay away!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2008

The food was decent and the waitstaff was excellent. We had the extreme displeasure of meeting the executive chef, who came out to YELL at us for taking too long to eat our appetizers. He threatened that he would not even begin to cook our food unless we could guarentee him that we would eat fast and leave, because he needed our table for a later reservation. Good place to eat, if you don't mind being totally harassed and embarrased......

“Tastefull fish”

The restaurant is about as far as we can reasonably walk from the Princeton University bookstore parking lot, near Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall and the McCarter Theatre prior to attenting a performance in either one of them.
The restaurant adjoins the Nassau seafood store (no buying experience there).
We did not try the blue point oysters, yet we had a choice of ten fresh oyster locations. The Nova Scotia oysters were fresh and served without salt (thank you).
A generous fish selection and preparation will please most. The cajun spiced sea fruits lived up to the expectations.
Make sure to BYOB and arrive early, since they do not take reservations.
The restaurant is a bit cramped and does get noisy when filled with patrons. Our two person table at the wall, was too dark and the little candle did not help for reading the menu.
The sorbet options on the dessert menu are worth ordering.
Do not expect fancy creations, be ready for good cooked seafood.
