Description: Jack Baker’s Wharfside in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ sits directly over the water with a sweeping view of Gull’s Island. The fishing boats glide in after a day’s catch with a flock of seagulls in their wake. The seasonal outdoor deck affords the sounds and sights of the great outdoors. The Wharfside restaurant is a full service dining experience. Tucked behind the Wharfside Restaurant on Channel Drive in Pt. Pleasant Beach sits the Wharfside Patio Bar. A long time haunt of locals, the secret of the Patio Bar has now been discovered! A step away from the boardwalk crowds, the Patio Bar offers a casual grille, raw bar and cocktails overlooking the tranquil Manasquan River and Inlet Islands. At night the Patio Bar turns tropical with warm sea breezes, romantic sunsets and the summer sounds of the Jersey Shore's most popular bands! Our tables work on a first come, first serve basis where our cocktail servers will take care of all your beverage needs. We offer a counter style food service, menus are brought to your table, but you place and pay for you order at our food counter. Our runners will bring your order to you based upon your table number, so please keep those condiment buckets in a visible location. Food wasn't that fantastic and a little pricey. We had planned on eating our food there, but it just took too long so we asked for it to go.

The Wharfside and The Patio are really two different experiences under the same small chain ownership. Go with The Patio - an outdoor, very casual restaurant and large bar operating during "the season". While "Jersey", through and through, it's also fun, laid back and great for people watching - it varies from close-cropped Republicans from nearby high-end towns, vacationing families on a budget, "chicks" with lots of teased hair, and bikers with studded boots. As I said...it's all fun. The food and service is adequate. The stars here are the view out over the river, the "let's have a good time" attitude that prevails, the music from the bands and the commercial fishing fleet headed out and coming in. You'll be very comfortable with young kids until about 7:30-8:00pm - afterwards the language can offend when the drinking really starts...but, physically, it's still harmless.

Decor was a little dated but the food was excellent! We were in the restaurant but I hear the bar outside on the dock is good also. Seafood combo was delicious. You could taste the freshness. The soups are some of the best seafood soups I've ever had. Hush puppies came with the bread. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great dinner...I will definitely return!

First the New England clam chowder is to die for. Tender clams creamy broth. The meals were ok. The baked potato was very good. Service was first rate. VERY quiet night with maybe 40% of tables full. The food was maybe a 5 of 10. Just not what it should be. Shrimp grill was eh!, the grouper with pecans was a bit overcooked BUT the sauce saved it. The hush puppies are first rate, the cole slaw first rate. Pass on this one and go to spikes up the road, they have no decor but the food is better.
