“Best Steakhouse at the Shore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2012

Place is crazy good. 2nd time here was better than the first. Blows American Cut away (new steakhouse at Revel). The short rib app is to die for. Porterhouse for 2 (of course) was FAB and the mushroom and onion side was DELISH. Even the intermezzo was great!
The staff is super friendly. Almost to the point of silly (we kept calling our waitress Mary Poppins).
Highly recommend. Price is very consistent with steakhouses in it's class.
Dessert wasn't great. Big fan of bread pudding and wasn't blown away. But that's the only dessert we had.
But the wine list? Awesome!!!

“Eat Here!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

3 of us dined here on May 27th. We had a reservation but were told if wanted to sit outside would be an additional 1 hr wait (it was a nice night but we didn't want to wait). Samra was our waittress, she was very friendly, attentive and knowledgable. 2 of us had the salad with lobster, chunks of blue cheese, mixed greens with a light honey mustard vinagrette. The salad was a decent size and delicious!!! Our friend had the scallops appetizer which he said was small but very good. I had the Chilean Sea Bass on a bed of spinach that came with a couple of small carrots and potatoes. It was very good and nicely presented. My friends dined on linguini w/seafood scampi and a grilled halibut (which was prepared without certain ingredients as he requested.) They both said their meals were delicious. For the 3 of us before tip, the meal was @ $142, that was 1 appetizer, 2 salads, 3 entrees, 2 glasses of wine and one soda (no dessert). It's definitely worth a try.

“Excellent Steak”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2012

Tried Shipwreck Point Grill for our anniversary at the suggestion of a foodie friend. Our appetizers ( tuna tartar & ceasar salad) were very goog and our entrees (ny strip & rack of lamb) were even better as was our waiter. Our table had above view of the Manasquan Inlet.

“Good But Not Great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2012

My wife and I had dinner at Shipwreck Point for the first time on May 2 and had a mostly good experience. We both had shrimp cocktails and they were superb. My wife had a small filet mignon and enjoyed immensely. My choice was the New York strip steak and that was a big disappointment. It was prepared as ordered; the problem was the meat itself. It was rather dry and chewy. The flavor wasn't great either. I've bought better steaks in a supermarket! I think if you're selling yourself as a Manhattan steak house in New Jersey your New York strip steak has to be first class and mine wasn't. On the positive side, the atmosphere was superior and the service was impeccable -- as it should be at their high prices. One more annoyance is that Point Pleasant Beach charges $3/hr to park your car. Of course, this isn't Shipwreck Point's fault, but if going there on a rainy evening be sure to have an umbrella handy for deaing with the town's parking machine robot. The bar was fine and coffee and desert was fine too. But a steakhouse should have a good steak1
