“Absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed March 14, 2010

My husband and I have travelled all over the world and stayed in everything from hostels, to big hotels, to all inclusives and flats, and I have never been so excited by an establishment that I felt the need to write a review.

The innkeepers, Maureen and Tony, have lovingly and painstakingly restored every inch of this historic and breathtaking house. As a result, the inn has a beautiful, classic Victorian feel, while it is gleaming, fresh and new at the same time. They have gone above and beyond with their attention to detail, providing every elegance of old world charm, and combining it with touches of modern luxury that leave you feeling like pampered royalty.

We were able to tour all of the spectacular rooms, each with their own unique personality and feel, and all, again, newly refinished. We ourselves stayed in the Tower Suite, in the actual tower of the building, and the only room on the top floor. The majestic bed with hungarian goose down pillows and blankets, the cozy sitting room with fireplace and flat screen tv/dvd player, and the amazing bathroom with gigantic marble jacuzzi tub, its own chandelier, and deluxe shower are all fit for the finest five star hotels.

The term bed and breakfast does not cover what you get here. We were greeted with fruit and cheese platters and sparkling cider (Maureen knew my husband and I were coming to celebrate the upcoming birth of our first child), and the food just kept coming. There was more fresh fruit, the most heavenly scones I've ever tasted, muffins, crumb cake, and more put out during the day. At night, we would come home from diner to find desserts, warm and fresh - homemade cookies, petit-fours, mini blueberry and white chocolate cheesecakes, chocolate covered strawberries, and always available gourmet coffees, teas, and hot chocolates. The breakfasts were an event to remember. The meals start with Maureen's fresh baked good of the morning, followed by a beautiful parfait, or gigantic fruit salad, and the entrees! Asparagus frittatta, or the incredible french toast stuffed with mascarpone cheese and fresh blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. This pregnant woman was in culinary heaven, and my husband ate until he was in pain and literally unable to take another bite. Everything was irresistible, and fresh from Maureen's magical kitchen.

Cleanliness is always something I worry about, no matter where we have stayed, but not at the Tower. It is immediately apparent that the place is scrubbed totally spotless between each visit. You would think you were the very first to step foot in the inn.

The inn is just a block or two away from the beach, and a two minute drive from any given restaurant or the boardwalk. I can't say enough good things about it. We felt we were welcomed into Maureen and Tony's lovely home, and not only had a blissfully relaxing weekend, but made friends in these two that we hope to come back to visit again year after year.

Our 2nd visit only found us more amazed, more pampered and more relaxed. I never thought the best bed and breakfast could get better but Maureen truly amazed us with her culinary skills. The food never stopped and everything was warm and delicious. The Tower Suite was perfect, clean and inviting. We cannot wait to return and will be back very soon.

My husband and I our celebrated our first New Years as husband and wife at The Tower Cottage in Point Pleasant New Jersey. We stayed in the Tower Suite which was the epitome of romance and relaxation. Please continue reading for a detailed review…

Hosts: Tony & Maureen are the owners/inn keepers and are a delightful pair that have brought hospitality to a level I thought did not exist in this age of travel. They are so warm and welcoming and have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. They are wonderful company as we spent quite a bit of time chatting with them and the other couple that was there celebrating the New Year as well. They truly go above and beyond and exceeded our expectations.

Cleanliness:
This is typically my #1 concern when I stay anywhere and the level of cleanliness at TC was unreal. EVERYTHING was clean. This is especially important at a B&B when you know the food is being prepared right in a kitchen in the house! This place is 100% germaphobe, clean-freak friendly!

Accommodations:
From the elegantly decorated porch to the magnificent entry and upstairs to the dining area, everything is just perfect. The state that they returned this historical landmark to is just breathtaking. Each room has its own Victorian theme and is masterfully decorated. We stayed in the Tower Suite in which the bedroom is literally in the tower of the house! The bed is like sleeping on clouds. It also has its own cozy room with a couch and a fireplace. The bathroom has an oversized whirlpool crowned with a crystal chandelier and a floor to ceiling tiled shower. The perfect suite for a special celebration! We also like that it was the only room on the 3rd floor whereas the other 4 rooms are on the same floor – Victorian Gardens is near the dining area so if you want more privacy ask for one of the rooms near the back of the house (Versailles or Tuscan). Each room has its own charm and personality.

Food:
Gourmet. I wish I had my own Maureen to make me breakfasts like that every morning. And not only breakfast but the afternoon and late night treats! So we arrived on New Years Eve and she had a special 4:30 spread with cheeses and mini quiches and spanikopita and home-made hummus and champagne! Later that night there were fresh baked chocolate chip cookies out on the little table by the always available coffee and tea. The next morning there was fresh baked cranberry crumb bread on the table early. Then for breakfast we were served fresh OJ, a pineapple boat filled with FRESH fruit, asparagus frittata and chicken sausage. Later that night there was cheesecake out for dessert. The next morning there were fresh baked blueberry muffins, followed by a yogurt parfait served in a crystal glass with fresh fruit and almonds. Then they served us a poached eggs with ham and spinach and cheese topped with a delicious sauce and a side of breakfast potatoes. Once breakfast was served Maureen and Tony would join us in the dining area and we had fun talking with them and the other couple that was there!

The Little Things: They did not miss a detail…cozy white bathrobes, aromatic bath gels, makeup remover wipes, the cutest shower cap I’ve ever seen, soft fluffy white towels, blow dryer, iron, Dorothy Prentice bath products, crystal wine glasses, Forte teas, DVDs and magazines, beautiful servingware…

In the area: We ate our New Year’s Eve meal at the Lobster Shanty which was very good and a nice atmosphere for a more formal celebration but I am a true Warfside fan at heart. Our second dinner which was out of this world was at Spike’s. If Guy hasn’t been there yet for Diners, Dive’s and Drive-Thrus he is missing out and so is his audience! What amazing, super fresh, super delicious seafood! Try the Lobster Bisque!

Overall a wondeful stay and highly recommended! And the beach in the winter is actually a really nice place to be!
