Description: Spano's Ristorante Italiano is a wonderful little store front restaurant just like you see in Brooklyn, with a quaint interior featuring oversized comfy booths and Italian music to complete the ambiance. The restaurant gets bustling after 6pm, and on weekends there can be quite a wait. The good news is they're open 7 days a week, so you can get the same amazing food on Tuesday without a wait. Speaking of the food, its authentic old world Italian prepared by Chef Joseph Spano. All ingredients are fresh, never frozen...fresh local fish and seafood, the highest quality veal, cut and pounded daily for the Veal dishes, Same with the chicken and eggplant, all prepared fresh daily. Spano's marinara sauce is the original winner of the Boss of the sauce contest sponsored by a local radio station and featuring all of the Shores Italian restaurants, as voted by a panel of judges and the general public. All of our ravioli, cheese filled, lobster, and specialty (like roasted butternut squash, or Osso Bucco) are handmade. They make the dough, they make the filling, and they stuff and cut each ravioli by hand. The portions are oversized, and the prices are very reasonable. They have an extensive menu and use only Certified Angus Beef, many of the dishes can be seen on their Facebook page at spanosristoranteitaliano and they open daily at 4pm. 7 days a week. With homemade desserts like the NY cheesecake, tiramisu, bread pudding and apizza dolce (Italian ricotta cheesecake) and delicious Cappuccino to finish off your meal, you can't go wrong at Spano's!

Went to Spano's for dinner.there was a mob again.I was told I had a 45 min wait for two even longer for more. The host seemed to enjoy telling you this. She didn't care if you left. The noise in the place is terrible, and the service is not so good. to be fair the food was good. You can't make a reservation it's not in their vocabularies.Stay away on the weekend or bring ear plugs.

“Really good, real italian”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

The food is outstanding, Real Italian taste and aroma. The restaurant smells delicious. The portions are large. The menu is large and mostly made to order. Special requests happily fulfilled. Comfortable seating. Not too fancy décor, Some downsides: very noisy (hard surfaces, small space, boisterous Italian patrons); food served very, very hot - really too hot to eat for a few minutes. No liquor license but byob ok. The ricotta cheese cake is wonderful. Many of the specials are dishes easy to find in Italy but hard to fond here. Seafood stuffed shells are better than anyone else around. Service is OK. Prompt, efficient but not particularly attentive (had to ask for water refills and more bread).
Plenty of parking in the area. Decent bar a few doors down while you wait (and you will wait as the place is fairly small and very popular.)

“August, 2013”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Went on Thursday evening and the restaurant was packed. It was raining heavily and distance to parking lot was a bit far, across street and about 100 feet back. After waiting for a table for about 45 minutes, we were seated in a nice room which contained a very rowdy rehearsal dinner group which included very young wedding party and older family who exercised absolutely no control on the group. They should have been in a private room. The noise was deafening and they were crude. The proprietors tolerated at the expense of the other patrons.

We stayed for the food as local friends rave about this place, but our food was not outstanding. We left with headaches and would have preferred a quiet Subway sandwich shop to this experience.

What a great Italian restaurant. I hate to tell others about it because it is already so popular that it will make it a so much longer wait to get it. Portions are huge and delicious. Prices are about $20.00 for and entrée with desert. Located in downtown Point Pleasant.

“Great Italian at the shore”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

One of our favorite places to go at the shore. Great food! And plenty of it! Shrimp Molly is off the chart. My wife and I bring a bottle of wine and get an order of shrimp Molly and a hot antipasto. We have a hard time finishing just that.
