How anyone could seriously give this hotel anything but one star amazes me. In 25 years of business and leisure travel I have never stayed at a national chain hotel as disgusting as this place. The entire property is overgrown with weeds. Trash throughout the inside and out. Weeds overtook playground equipment. The smell of smoke and mold exists in hallways and rooms. The carpet in our room had that damp feeling. Gross is an uderstatement. The breakfast area was a total mess. A wrecking ball would be the best solution. I've written a letter tot he HoJo brand president - I've never done that before in my life. Sure the price looks like a great deal if poersonal safety and comfort aren't important. Don't let the photos on their website fool you. Stay elsewhere as there is nothing in the area to see or do, unless you want to visit the local strip club.

Room Tip: stay elsewhere

Booked this place way back in January 2013 for July 5-7 2013(holiday weekend) @ a fantastic LOW RATE thru Expedia. Because of other very poor reviews I was skeptical. But needed a place to stay for a wedding nearby & most everything else was too much $$. So, I didn't expect much. But, we were generally happy, especially considering the low special rate we got.
PRO's: Very nicely appointed clean room w/2 queen beds; new flat screen TV; nice marble like tile bathroom; beautiful newly fixed-up clean swimming pool(including additional kids wading pool); adequate free breakfast including Belgian waffles(room served in too small though).
CONS: Not enough towels & those supplied of very poor quality; outdoor grounds rather filthy with poor landscaping w/ many long weeds; Former outdoor tennis courts ruined by Sandy storm are an eyesore(the beautiful swimming pool overlooks next to this); The entrance from the rear parking lot(yes it is lighted contrary to other reviews) has really messed-up doors that work off of room card that's hard to work-this is also near where the interior corridor elevator(works fine) is located; noisy A/C & TOILET.

My Wife and I stayed here for 6 days to see my Daughter graduate and make a short vacation.

The grounds are rough looking, but in their defense, they are working on them. The gym was great...a bit old school..but great. The pool was nice...inside the fencing. Outside the fence were the tennis courts and landscaping. Neither had been tended to for a very long time.

The room was fine. They cleaned it very well. We had 2 electrical issues when we arrived and their maintenance man, who was great, fixed them asap. Oh, only 21 channels so don't plan on watching too much tv. The frig and micowave worked well.

All the employees were very helpful.

Atlantic City is literally a 5 minute drive. There was some rebuilding happening but really, minimal, especially considering a Hurricane happened last year.

Pleasantville wasn't very pleasant. Drive through and 10 minutes West is a very nice town for eating, shopping, etc.

We are used to staying at nicer hotels but our budget this time prevented that. So, for the money, it was worth it.

Room Tip: Just stay away from the exterior entrances...the door nearest our room slammed shut. Fortunately we...

I checked in the hotel with my family last week, as soon as you walk in the lobby there is a very bad smell everywhere, the rooms where dirty, towels were dirty ask for extra towels they said NO, service was very bad, the photos are misleading, i will NEVER visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get a good hotel
