If you can’t make it to Morocco, then Marakesh Restaurant, in Parsippany is THE place to go when you crave couscous. But, first, one of the simple pleasures is the dish of marinated olives and flat bread that is offered each table! The following are highly recommended although it would be a LOT for one sitting!
Hummus is traditional but with a little something extra (maybe it’s the atmosphere?)
Moroccan Cigars - are flaky dough filled cigar-shaped goodies with a delicious filling of chopped beef and spices.
Couscous - Lamb and/or chicken - and ask for an order of merguez (spicy lamb sausage) to add to the dish along with some harissa - the mideast hot salsa equivalent!
The setting is simple and authentic (I've lived, briefly in Morocco) and the prices reasonable.
