Always a fun day. Picnic area, BYOB area. Sit down restaurant service in Clubhouse area is pricey. But the choice of where and how to dine is yours- as is which horse to bet on. I enjoy watching the jockey's saddle up.

This is an inexpensive place to expose kids to sides of life that they might never experience elsewhere. My grandkids learned what it is like to feel the ground shake as the crowd starts to roar, the excitement mounts, and the thoroughbreds thunder past on their way to the finish line. They bathed in spray from hoses that were cooling horses after the race and from the trucks that watered the track to keep the dust down. They stood beside the trumpeter as he twirled the yard-long instrument first one way and then reversed direction before putting it to his lips and forming the music solely by controlled breathing. They asked why the vet curled back each horse's lip in the paddock before post time. After watching a family member's wager pick finish out of the money, we had a spirited discussion with one kid about the nature of making bets as well as the merits and evils of gambling; a practical lesson in morality. General parking is $4. It costs adults $3 for admission to the grandstand and $2 for seniors (55+) with kids going for free, at least on the Family Day we went. Programs are a few dollars too . You can pay more to park near - and use - the Clubhouse or to sit in the reserved sections but even those costs won't break the bank. The grandstand is angled so that it progressively shades most of the open air seating as the afternoon wears on, a benefit on a hot day. New Jersey would be the poorer if this money losing enterprise ever closes. Off-track betting parlors and on-line gambling from one's computer screen are not substitutes for the flavor of the race course and a family picnic on a summer afternoon. Try it.

A bit overpriced. the dining room has a $15 per person minimum, plus a $3 seating charge. Burgers and soft drinks for four was over $100 with tax and tip. this doesn't include things like parking and admission. add these and a program and you just spent another $50. Hopefully you bet on a winner to offset your expenses.

As long as you pick a pleasant day (not too hot, not too wet), that is a great place to visit. Lots of cheap parking, and plenty of room to roam. (Not too much shade though, unless you splurge and sit in a box seat.)

It's fun to walk around and see the horses/ jckeys just before and after the races. And Monmouth Racetrack always seems to have something to do every weekend. Myhusband and I visited on a chili coookoff weekend; buy was that ablast. eat to your heart's content (for not too much money) at a variety of trucks parked inside the park. Sampled tons of food. There was even a beer garden!

But the best part of all is that families can come here too. Lots of places for littles ones to run.

And then there are the races. Pretty frequent, and for a small amount of money, you can bet and maybe even win a little something to take home with you. I think this is much more fun that gambling inside stuffy casino in AC.

Very easy to get o; only a few miles east of GSP exit 105 south. And very easy to get into and out of the race track itslef.

Try it; you'll have fun!

Been to the wine and beer festivals that they have, they always have great music and vendors for different types of foods. You can sit back and relax and enjoy the entertainment and also wager on the horses.
