To those who might be looking for a place to get away and relax with great service and accomdations; I recommend you try "The Inns Of Ocean Grove". The Women's Ministry of Mariners' Temple Baptist Church used The Ocean Plaza as our retreat venue. We had a wonderful time!!! The Staff provided great service .The food was Excellent. The location great! The beach and ocean breath taking!! We will return as a group and indivisually.

Room Tip: All the rooms have there own unique quality. I particularly love the " The Bradley Suite"...

Lovely restorded grand Victorian a scant block from the beach and very close to the big old beautiful auditorium. You can sit on the porch catch a breeze pour some wine (they have fridges for the guests if the room does not have one) and enjoy the view of the ocean. I have stayed in a regular queen room as well as some of the larger suites that have private balconies and sitting areas, some have kitchens. Anything you wantis available at several price points. All rooms have air and cable, which in a quaint Victorian seaside resort is a big plus.

Ocean Grove is tiny and cute with shops, cafes, strolling, ice cream parlors, eateries and more. You will feel like you are in a time warp. The great auditorium has one of the largest pipe organs in the US and concerts are regular. They also have popular musical attractions and concerts. You can pay to attend or do what I do. The sides of this historical wooden building lift up to catch the breezes, so I grab an ice cream cone at Days and cross over the town square and sit outside and enjoy. There is also a bandshell on the boardwalk for free concerts. The auditorium is also the where Sunday services are held and it's worth it to check out the pageantry when the stewards of the church in blues blazers white slacks and white carnations line up and march out with the collection baskets in formation. The organ fills the place with music and hymns are sung. I'm not religious but it's worth experiencing. Right outside are a community of half timbered canvas tents that roll away in the winter. They are very picturesque especially at night when most are decked out in twinkling lights.

There are a few good restaurants which are all BYOB no liquor liscences. When you pull through the entrance gates you will think you are somewhere else in time. At night there are street musicians most weekends . This is not for partying, this is for relaxing. Since the whole town is about a mile you will walk everywhere, parking is a bit tough so if you get a spot just leave the car alone.

The Ocean Plaza has discounted beach passes. They include a continental breakfast , fruit, pastries, cereal, toast, muffins, juice, coffee, tea. Rooms are clean and the owners very hospitable. Beds are comfy, clean, central air close to everything and here is the best part if you live in NYC it's about an hour and half away!

Room Tip: They have stay three nights get one free deals. If you are a returning guest they are accommodating...

We stayed here for 2 nights in November. The location was ideal and the rooms very clean and fairly modern. What was truly amazing was the view of the Atlantic from the patios and the breakfast area. It is half a block to the beach and a few blocks from the main street so a very terrific location. The breakfast was adequate though the coffee left something to be desired. There are only two negatives-first, the bed was very uncomfortable, both from a mattress perspective and the linens themselves. The pillows were hard and scratchy. Second, there are lots of stairs which of course you would expect in a b and b but there is no one to help you carry anything so if you have lots to carry ask for a room on the lower floor! Despite its charm and positive aspects, the bed situation would prevent me from staying here again.

Room Tip: Get one with a patio on a lower floor!

This is a Victorian Hotel. We stayed on the thrid floor...king bed..sofa, chair, tv, air conditioning, private bath, wi-fi. Our room was very comfortable. The stay included breakfast which was your choices of cereal, fruit, yogurt, danish, bagels, hard boiled eggs, milk, juice and coffee and/or tea. There are snacks, drinks and ice always available. Beach Towels are also available as are discounted beach tags.
The location is the best...park your car and you are able to walk everywhere. The beach is one block and you can sit on the deck and watch the ocean. Town is four short blocks, the Great Auditiorium is two blocks, the pavilion is one block and Asbury Park is approximately five blocks.
Nearby there are some great places to eat...Nagle's recommend for both lunch and dinner....The Starving Artist is wonderful for lunch....we had a decent meal at Bia however, the service was poor and the food was pricey.

Room Tip: We took advantage of a pay for three nights get the fourth free...check/ask for specials

First of all, I'm NOT a big Bed & Breakfast fan. Most are old, small and lacking the standard comforts on expects from a modern hotel (air conditioning, on-site parking, etc.).
That being said, The Ocean Plaza was a wonderful experience! Ocean Grove has no hotels, only Bed & Breakfasts. We were looking for a few days near the beach, from New Jersey down thru Northern Virginia and the prices for rooms were outrageous! When we came across the Ocean Plaza, they were featuring a special - arrive Sunday or Monday and stay 3 night and the 4th night was free. That brought the 4 night average down to around $110 / night. That worked into our budget nicely.
The Inn itself was terrific! Although the building was original to 1870, it had been completely updated. The room, and attached bath, were roomy and spacious. We had a queen bed, loveseat, chair, dresser, closet and still room to move around. Everything was modern and comfortable. The Inn had central air conditioning, but not individual room controls. Our first floor room was steps from the "living room" and the wrap around porch with many available rocking chairs.
The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. They knew how to converse without that "over sweet" attitude you get at many B&B's.
The continental breakfast was adequate. There was a nice selection daily of fresh fruit, and a good selection of pastries, although not "homemade". Breakfast was served on the second floor wrap around porch with views of the morning sun glistening off the ocean.
Beach towels and snacks were available for no charge. ALL parking in Ocean Grove is on-street, (no charge) but there was no issue for us at the Ocean Plaza since the Inn has across from a park, so parking was available on both sides of the street.
We do plan to return next year, hopefully for the same week in June.

My wife and I look forward to staying at The Inns of Ocean Grove every summer. Bob, Vicky and the rest of the staff go out if thier way to make us feel at home My wife and I cannot say enough about the staff and the accommodates. We feel so comfortable when we stay there, so much so that it feels like
our own summer home. My wife
and I enjoy our stay there during during the summer so much, we
decided to stay there during the
winter to celebrate the anniversay of our first date. It is a quaint , romantic
place to stay and Bob always makes sure we are taken care of and helps make it a romantic occassion by surprising my wife
with champagne and strawberries.
Great location to the beach and
local restaurants and I would
recommend taking a quick stroll
over to Asbury Park, a place
experiencing a great rebirth.
You will not be disappointed by staying here!

The owner of this inn was so gracious and hospitable, we had five star treatment for the entire weekend! Bob, the owner of the inn, knew we were ordering pizza for dinner so he took the liberty of catering a huge spread of platters in addition to our pizzas. The inn is very cozy and a block away from the beach, so overall, it was a perfect weekend away.
