“Perfect Hotel for Anniversary Weekend”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

I've been coming to OCNJ every summer for what feels like my entire life. My husband and I have continued the tradition with our own family. During the summer months we stay on the south end of the island, but we spent last weekend at The Flanders in celebration of our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was the perfect getaway! The hotel has an amazing vintage feel in the lobby and common areas, yet our suite was very comfortable and updated. All the staff was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed breakfast at Emily's twice- my husband particularly enjoyed the 'secret menu item' offered by our server- the cinnamon sugar waffle! The boutique stores tucked unto the lobby are also hidden gems that I will be sure to return to! Thanks Flanders for a great weekend!

My family was pleased with the accommodations at The Flanders. We stayed for one weekend night in one of the basic suites with an ocean view. It was perfect for our family of three. I'm always happy to be in a suite where we can close a door between our room and the baby's, just as we are all used to doing at home!
I thought the suite was a very good size and could comfortably accommodate a family, even one bigger than ours. The bathroom was huge. We didn't use the kitchen on this particular trip, but it's nice to have the option. The room decor overall is a tad bit dated in style, but it does have a beachy vibe, and it's perfectly neat and clean. The bed was particularly comfortable.
The ocean views are fantastic. We opened the windows and enjoyed the salt breeze and the sound of the waves. It was the off-season so it was quiet, but I imagine during the summer it can be fun to open the windows and hear the sounds of the boardwalk.
The hotel is a neat place to explore. It maintains a vintage feel. Walking through the doors feels like you are stepping back into the 1910s or 1920s. We got a kick out of exploring the second floor and looking for Emily, the ghost that supposedly haunts the hotel. Speaking of Emily, the hotel restaurant--called Emily's--serves a great breakfast. My pancake stack was enough food for six people, and it was delicious.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a classic Ocean City experience. We hope to stay here again someday!

Thank you for staying with us and writing a very nice review. We are pleased to hear that you found your accommodations comfortable and clean. It is quiet in the off season but hearing the sounds of the boardwalk in the summer is what the shore is all about. Our historic hotel is an amazing place to explore and I happy you enjoyed it. I will pass your comments along to the staff and Chef of Emily's. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Ocean City.

We come to the Flanders Hotel at least 4 times a year. It dowsn't matter whether it is 30 degrees or 90 degree weather, we just pack up and go. This is the place to relax and have the staff make sure your having a good time. When you need to know the good places in town all you have to do is ask the front desk. The chef is fantastic and the food is superb. They have a coffee shop with Lucas coffee which is very tasty. The location is on the boardwalk and you can open your windows and smell the fresh salt air. When I'm at the Flanders I don't need to take relaxing pills.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the Ocean. Good to take a picture of the "Sunrise".

Absolutely thrilled that we ended up at The Flander's Hotel for a spur of the moment weekend away. We called en route, after searching for hotels in OCNJ on our phone. I couldn't be happier with the service and our accomodations. I look forward to returning to The Flanders whenever we go to Ocean City, NJ from here on out!

We have been going to The Flanders for several years now and we always have a great experience! The rooms are so clean and spacious and the staff is very friendly. The location cannot be beat, right on the boardwalk! We love Emily's Cafe for breakfast in the morning and plan on using the spa during our next visit. The hotel has great accommodations for large groups too! I love how it feels like a home away from home. I have nothing bad to say about this place! We will keep coming back for more :)

We had our wedding here on November 10th, 2012. It was just 10 short days after Hurricane Sandy. We were on pins and needles waiting to find out the fate of Ocean City and the beautiful and historical Flanders Hotel. Luckily, the damage to this area was minimal and we were able to go through with the wedding as planned! Karen was our wedding coordinator and was amazing from start to finish. We love Karen! She was awesome to work with and helped us plan the wedding of our dreams. We randomly discovered The Flanders Hotel while staying in nearby Atlantic City for the weekend and searching for places to get married in the tri-state area. We never heard of it before but figured we would check it out since we were down there.

To our surprise we absolutely fell in love with this place. It is an old 1928 historical hotel. The halls and rooms have been preserved. I love seeing the old pictures knowing that people have been having weddings there for almost a century. It is totally a Boardwalk Empire style set up. You are right on the boardwalk with all of the stores. You have the beach! The rooms are huge and in the off season which our wedding was, its very affordable!

We came down on a Friday and stayed until the Sunday after our wedding. We stayed in the most amazing suite I've ever seen The Skyline Penthouse. But that wasn't the only beautiful room they have there. All of the rooms were gorgeous with views of the ocean and boardwalk. We ended up having a lot of people cancel because of the hurricane, but we were lucky to have great weather of 60 degrees in November the entire weekend! It was a beautiful sunny warm weekend. None of our friends or family had ever been to the hotel before. They all raved how much they loved the place. They felt they were transported back in time to a magical place which is really the best way to describe this place. The ceilings are so tall. The moldings are all original. The chandeliers are all real crystal. The hallway of mirrors just sparkles. Every detail of this place is just incredible. There is no other place I've ever seen like this with the beach right outside. It felt like we had a destination wedding but we didn't.

Let's talk about the food. The food was amazing! Everyone couldn't believe how good the food was. They said its the best wedding food they've ever had. We had a dinner in the hotel the Friday before and we had the dinner at our wedding. Both meals were equally delicious. We danced ALL night long and had a great time with the after party hanging out in our suites with family and friends. It was the best wedding I could have asked for. The pictures we received from Perfect Day Photography were beautiful. We got the most amazing sunset shots on the beach and the boardwalk. We couldn't be happier. We owe so much to Karen and her staff for helping us create the wedding of our dreams and we were able to stay on budget! If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We can't wait to go back and spend a weekend and re-live everything all over again in our memory.
