Friends and I stayed at the Flanders for a wedding in the hotel and the hotel has seen better days. Location was great and parking was very easy but the hotel has not been updated in at least 20 years and the suites were hit or miss or both. Our 2 bedroom suite overlooked the pool and was next to the log ride at the park next door. One bedroom I would rate a B since it had windows and a dedicated AC but the other was an interior room without a window I would rate an F and it had the worst AC possible. Bathroom, Kitchen, Living room were all fine. Other friends of ours had a different 2 bedroom suite and they wore their shoes at all times since the carpet looked like it had never been cleaned. We would never stay here again unless it was free.

I reserved the South View Penthouse for 2 nights for my family over a weekend in July 2011. For the money we spent I would have expected a clean room with furniture that was not broken, i was surprised. We checked into the room and discovered it was filthy, from the teeth cleaners left in the drawers, under the bed and in the bathroom to the beds having sand in them, as well as the broken armchairs in the dining area. The couch and chairs had gross stains on them. The kitchen was dirty, the glasses and silverware still had food on them! We quickly loaded everything into the dishwaher and ran it twice!. For our 2k and inconvenience, we received a $40.00 lunch and less than sincere apology for the filth and inconvenience. The master bed was horrible, creeked and rattled everytime we moved.

Stayed at The Flanders this month (8/11) and it is basically a nice family-style hotel. The rooms are OK: two separate rooms, separated by an equipped kitchen and bath. The windows are tiny, which is because it is an older hotel, but it definitely does not do justice to the views outside. The one bizarre/annoying thing is that there are fake flowers everywhere, including a bowl of fake lemons on the kitchenette table! That, in addition to six different fake arrangements all over the room, not to mention the hotel itself--from the front door to the bathrooms, filled with ugly, dust-gathering fake florals. Ugh. It just makes the place feel dated and dirty, even if it is not. Please, friends, visit other modern hotels and take a cue. Please ditch the fake plant life. Otherwise...no complaints.

We had a family reunion - one week - familiies from Jerusalem, Israel and California - 8 adults and 9 grandchildren - 4 apartments - everything was just marvelous - responsive and professional and most courteous staff - fantastic location - a safe and family friendly experience - our first contact was with Coleen about 1 year ago and she was so correct that we would enjoy our special reunion - and, indeed, Coleen and everyone else was a pleasure - full of enthusiasm, respect and coordination - we thank you ALL!!!!!

Room Tip: Plan and commit early - the hotel is so marvelous that it sell out!!

The Flanders is probably the only "real" and "proper" hotel you'll find at the Jersey shore. Established in 1923, the hotel is expensive but nicely appointed and well cared for. Our room had an ocean/boardwalk view, and could have slept 5 though we were only 2. Our kitchenette had a full fridge, sink, coffee maker and 2 burner stovetop with all the kitchen essentials. A dining table for 6 and comfortable seating in the living room space gave us the ability to entertain friends. We only had coffee in the dining room, but will return to try the restaurant on our next visit. The prices were certainly reasonable. Beach tags are included with the room.

Prices are high for Ocean City New Jersey but the hotel has a special charm and history and the perfect beach / boardwalk location for a family with teenagers. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a bit noisy at night but one would expect that being so close to the amusement park on the boardwalk. Would stay there again.

We stayed at the Lanai Suites at the Flanders. We felt that the location was great, although out patio backed up to the amusement rides and there was no real view. The kitchen was on the small side. The staff at the hotel was first rate as was our rental agent. Customer service i would give an excellent rating.
