Owner description: With its quaint storefronts, amusement rides and Music Pier, Ocean City is everything you'd expect from the real Jersey shore. This family-friendly town boasts a two-mile boardwalk dotted with amusements, pizza parlors, and seaside stores.

Always a hit with young and old alike. Rides, arcades, shops, food, bike rentals, beach (tags required). Extremely family friendly, as Ocean City is a "dry" town--in my opinion, not the carnie/skanky atmosphere of Wildwood or Coney Island in Brooklyn. Police patrol on bikes; very safe. Must get Johnson's Popcorn (many flavors -- caramel is most popular!) and Kohr's soft serve. The 2 main attractions with rides are Gillians, located at one end of the boardwalk, and Castaway Cove, in the opposite direction. There is a movie theater and The Music Pier, which hosts concerts and orchestras throughout the year. Many parades and charity walks and other community events throughout the year as well. Of course, it's very touristy in the summer, but that's to be expected (and appreciated - for the economy!) . Always great to walk the boards or ride in the fall when it's less crowded. Beware of seagulls.....they WILL swoop down and take your food!

Besides lots of shops and eateries, the boardwalk is a safe and fun place to hang out with friends and family. Bike riding is allowed but restricted to a few hours in the morning which is good for pedestrians traffic. Also a good place for family with children because there's all kind of amusement areas for the little ones to do. None are free so be prepare to pay if you want to play. The boardwalk, however, is quite clean since no animals (dogs) are allowed on the boardwalk or beach. Seagulls are not much of nuisance as long as people don't try to feed them. Overall, we felt safe in OC and always have a good time every visit there.

The great thing about Ocean City is that they do not have those horrible, money grabbing games on their boardwalk... you know the ones I mean. You give them $3 to try to knock a frog into the pod and receive a 25 cent toy. They have many rides, shops and arcades to entertain. AND they are one of the few that still have movie theaters on their boardwalk, which came in handy when it rained one day. This has been our favorite vacation spot for almost 20 years.

Amusements, mini-golf, ice cream, shops, Johnson's popcorn, many food options...all great! Can bike or rent a surrey in the morning before noon.
