If you want a place to take the family this is the place. We have always gone in September which has been great. Still warm and attractions open on the weekend. You can get to a zoo or to Cape May all within a half hour. Love Love Love Ocean City

This is still the best boardwalk in NJ. It is family oriented with lots of stores for food, clothing, bric-a-brac and just enough rides to keep everyone happy.

What I like about the OCNJ boardwalk is that it is very family-friendly while somehow not being boring and still maintaining a level of class. Other boardwalks are overrun with excessive noise, an abundance of carnival games, rides and garbage, and stretches of cookie-cutter t-shirt/sand toy shops. OCNJ has a these things also, but balanced well with nicer shops and unique eateries.

Ocean City bills itself as THE family vacation destination. Ocean City boasts a beautiful beach and an alcohol-free fun-scape. Like other NJ shore spots, there was much uncertainty after Superstorm Sandy caused so much damage to this geographic area.
Well, this town dodged the bullet-so to speak. By being hit head on the town saw the water come ashore to the north while the wind damage went to the south. What damage was done to the beach and downtown was quickly cleaned up.
This past weekend was Easter-the unofficial opening for the Boardwalk and its shops. Most shops were open and visitors were plentiful along the 2 1/2 mile promenade. There is plenty of charm along the boards with excitement for the young ones, tee shirts and pizza for the entire family, and plenty of benches for the people watchers.
The New Jersey shore and its boardwalks have been a big part of growing up on the East coast-and thank goodness that should continue into the next generation.

Ocean City has always been my favorite beach place in Jersey. I live in NJ and its always a great place to go for the day. The rides are good for the kids. Plenty of different foods for everyones tastes. More than enough stores to shop in. Its more a family place than a party place like Wildwood.
