I absolutely get the rising cost of flour, eggs, milk and sugar. I'm in the business...
The donut this past weekend was significantly smaller and 5 cents more expensive. It would have been preferable to simply raise the price a bit more and leave the size alone. It was never a giant donut to begin with, but by dropping it to 3oz from 4.5 is going to be bad for business.
Across the board, most of the prices increased, but that's understandable in this economy. The amount of potatoes on the breakfast plates were smaller, as was the amount of fruit in the bowl of berries.
We visited twice this past trip. On the last visit, as we approached the hostess to pay our tab, she neglected to acknowledge our presence at all, save to take money from our hands. The courtesy of asking how the meal was, thanking us for stopping by was notably absent.
I don't believe we'll be stopping back, which is a shame, really. We've been going to Brown's for years.
