the website boasts all units newly renovated, which translates to a new coat of paint and nothing else. The bathrooms looked like they were from the 80's. They run a tight ship, and that's no exaggeration. Assigned parking spaces, wrist bands for the pool to prove you belong, no hanging beach towels on railing to dry out. Pros: heated pool-very nice; location right on beach and short walk to boardwalk, pool cabanas nice. The cons: tiny bathroom sink; tiny kitchen table-barely big enough to fit family of 4; no clock radio; no box of tissues; no 2nd tv ( a plus when you have kids); no snack vending machine; couldn't really sit outside your room since we put our beach towels on the chair to dry out. These may seem like small things, but when you're there for a week it all adds up. The fridge in my parents room had rust on it, the room had no decorations. When I was searching for a place to stay , a realtor mentioned not all rooms were renovated and, she was correct. Front desk staff, especially the older ladies, not very friendly. When checking out, she tossed my key deposit accross the counter and never asked how my stay was. Needless to say, I won't be returning next year.

We've spoken to the reception at length about our needs because our family of 4 with 2 toddlers all have allergies and they assured us that the Roman Holiday Motel was only renovated 2 years ago and sounded friendly enough. So we booked an ocean front view room on the first floor. Upon arrival we found out our ocean view room was taken by no one other than the owers themselves without notice or apologies. Since it was so late in the day after a long drive we took the room that was given to us. It was in front of the pool maintaince storage room when they store all the chemicals. The front door has a malfunction lock which they refuse to fix stating the chain is fine and the bedroom window does NOT lock which made this hotel a security risk to anyone. Our bedroom window faces an alley way full of garbage, directly across from an exhaust vent and to top it off there is a bright light outside of our window that does NOT shut off until pass midnight. The room was smelly with no signs of a recent renovation. The elevator has floor cracks and structural cracks with the rusty metal showing. This is the worst hotel we have ever in stayed in anywhere in the world.

My husband and I decided we needed a weekend get-a-way at the beach BADLY, so even though it was 4th of july weekend, we drove to Wildwood without reservations and began looking for hotels. We prefer North Wildowood as the beach is not so ridicuously WIDE like the crest and is a little more layed back. Roman Holiday had a room for us. top floor, room 409. View spectacular, pool water a delight and even the chaise lounges by the pool were cushioned, very nice touch. The staff when checking in was friendly and down to earth. Our room was VERY clean, everything worked great and the air is central air with a digital thermostat, so I have no Idea what the previous poster is talking about. We paid 185.00 for a top floor fantastic view suite that would have slept 6 people (sofa bed in living area and 2 doubles in bedroom), that is not a bad deal for an oceanfront hotel on 4th of July weekend. We were also extended the gratuity of using the pool, shower and bathroom all day Sunday AFTER we had checked out so we could stay at the beach all day. I think this is a great place. Perhaps all the rooms are not the same, but ours was great and certainly not dated, and very clean.

We stayed for 4 days the weekend of June 22,2007. My first clue should have been when the Roman Holiday was the only place we could find a room (the other places we were familiar with were full). Thought we'd take a chance........ big mistake that ruined our vacation! First of all, the rooms are outdated and very cheaply done. Very bare bones. The beds are super uncomfortable (my husband thought it was a box spring instead of matress). The bedroom lamp didn't work because the only accessable receptacle was broken. Even the huge "Roman Holiday" sign on top of the building didn't work while we were there. . The pool was OK (heated nicely) but it got little to no sun (the motel itself blocked the sun). The flower area was weedy and unkept. The pool bathroom was absolutely DISGUSTING. So filthy dirty with a foul odor, no toilet paper, no soap, no paper towels and a dangling light bulb. I would not let my child use it (or anyone else in the family) . Worst of all was that our air conditioner went off every night around 9pm (circuit breaker at the receptacle kicked off). We could not get it to work again till morning. We basically could not sleep for our entire 4 day stay because the room was so hot and stuffy. There were no windows or patio doors to open (just solid glass) . We pleaded with management to get us another room, replacement air conditioner, or at least discount the price..... NO to all of the above. They gave us a table fan. The manager, Marie, was the only person who could make decisions and she was nasty to us and unwilling to help. On the last night, she said we could leave if we choose (and she would not charge us for that night) . This place put such a damper on our vacation, it almost ruined it. I will NEVER stay there again and hope no one else has the experience we had.

My family and I have been staying at the Roman Holiday since the late 70's when it was two stories tall and have seen many changes over the years. The latest change in management has the hotel going to condos. When this occurs, we doubt if we will be going back. Many of the improvements (cabanas, etc.) were done in 2004 and it will be interesting to see if the new managment has done anything else. There are the usual maintenance problems; stained ceiling tiles in the bathroom, missing tv remote, sliding door screen misaligned and difficult to close. For the money, these little problems should not be experienced. We'll see next week when we head there once again, if things have improved since last year. If things don't improve, our family and friends will begin looking for a new place to stay and will say goodbye to an old friend.
