Although it's been 2 years since my visit, I still remember how dirty it was till this day. There were dead bugs on the bathroom floor upon arrival and I purposefully didn't clean it up to see if the cleaning staff would. After 2 days, they never did. So I did and told them to just leave fresh towels daily and not to come in. And they did that and were very nice about it. The beds were absolutely horrible and room was tiny. I tried sleeping on the couch, but we had a room by the elevator and the nighttime lights shone in the room. Plus the couch was horrible. Not to mention the type of A/C unit was one that turned on and off often with a lot of NOISE! Also the door had trouble closing & opening completely. My son got the hang of it though. Booked it because 2 seasons ago it was rated #1 on here. The only thing #1 was the location. Otherwise overpriced for what you got!

The Matador is a really awesome place to stay. It's about 10 steps from the beach and is directly beside the boardwalk. There's plenty of resturants and fun things to do within a walking distance. They have a nice pool complete with a kid's section. There is also showers outside to clean off the sand after going to the beach. The staff was also really accomidating after my sister had an accident in the room. Overall, great hotel.

The Matador's location is awesome. North Wildwood's shorter walk to the beach as compared to the 1/2 mile trek when staying in Wildwood or the Crest really makes a huge difference especially when you're carrying chairs, coolers, etc.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a few hiccups, too minor to detail, and the staff were very quick to respond. Maid service was quick and efficient, extra towels were never a problem and the maids were happy to work around you. Also, the room we had, had central a/c which cooled both rooms, that's a big plus for me!

Last year we stayed at the Adventurer in Wildwood Crest with the same amt of people (4 adults, 2 11 yr old boys). The Adventurer's 2 room efficiency was spacious and we were disappointed with the smaller size of the Matador's efficiency, but the Adventurer charged additional $ for extra people (their rates are based on 4 persons even tho they advertised their room as accommodating 6) whereas the Matador did not charge anything additional.

The only real critique I would offer the Matador would be:
1. Laundry facilities should be updated. Washers and dryers
are old and small causing the necessity for multiple
wash loads & additional $ for drying time
2. Grills for guests - they only had 2 small grills. For the volume
of guests they have, they should have more grills. We
attempted to use the grills several times and never could.

All in all, our stay at the Matador was pleasant and would stay there again!
