We have stayed at the Sahara too many times to count over the last 8 years. We made our phone reservations in jan with ken as usual. We arrived on Fri June 22 and left on June 29th. When we checked we didn't see anyone we knew in the office, no Ken no Nick ! It was alittle confussing and alarming, We were told that they were on vacation ! no way!! We went to our room shocked!! We unloaded then went to the food store put the items away went on the boardwalk came back and discovered the refrig not working ! called the office and spoke to someone. a young man named Shelby came up looked at it and said i will be back. My husband went to the office and they were not sure what to do they had to call the manager. They called back and said that they may be able to help us in the am. so we emptied our food into our cooler with ice. Shelby came up to our room with a young man named jeff and gave us their refrig out of their room. I then noticed that we only had 2 towels and no washcloths and there is 3 of us, along with a dirty bathroom floor. I cleaned the floor and we went to the office for towels. I turned on the lamp but here was no bulb so my husband took the bulb out of the ceiling fan light. We then discovered that we had a coffee maker but no pot! another maker ws delivered to us but it was old and rusty so we just took the pot from that 1, i know, wow! there were no trash bags in the trashcans in our room , so i used my own until some came in the next day. Went and got ice myself and noticed that 1 washer out of 2 was not working and no dryer working at all! now what?? There was a free for all in the pool 1 day! lots of beer, a boombox and loud music, bodies flying into the pool in and out like no 1 else was there. I noticed the pool was dirty at times well after closing at night and still dirty the next am. The chairs were always neat and clean and ashtrays emptied not during our trip. I would like to say that it appeared that the people in the office looked like they were trying but i think they stayed in the office without checking the property out! trash was in the parking lot. if nick and kenny were there it wouldn't have even hit the ground! Shelby, Jeff and Maggie( house keeping) were soooo helpful if you need anything while you are there they are the people that make up for everything that is not right! Nick,Ken and Adele are wonderful people that make your vacation complete. We will not be back if they do not return! sorry to say that but they make the Sahara complete, tidy and welcoming!! It is sad to think that this could be the end of this family owned and operated motel in north wildwood on the boardwalk!
