“We Will Return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2009

We highly recommend the Wooden Duck Bed and Breakfast, and intend to return. We wanted a brief two night respite, and the Wooden Duck provided exactly that. Beth was a welcoming hostess as well as accommodating cook; we requested and received a meatless breakfast which was filling and absolutely delicious; on both mornings Beth cooked a different breakfast. I cannot say enough about how helpful and attentive to our needs Beth was: She recommended good area restaurants and keeps a stash of menus, as well as providing directions; she went to a lot of effort in researching answers to our many questions about the area. The entire facility and grounds are gorgeous, well decorated, and clean as a whistle, providing a feeling of luxury. Our room was a good size, with two comfortable soft chairs by an electric fireplace that provided the option of heat; I appreciated using one of the warm bathrobes supplied. The bed is in the style that is elevated; a two-step solid wood movable stair piece is supplied for short people like me to enable ease in getting into and out of bed. The bed and pillows were comfy (extra pillows supplied in closet), and I navigated the steps in and out of bed without a problem. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and we enjoyed watching the birds in the bird house outside the breakfast room while we ate. A pretty outdoor pool is within view of the breakfast room. Homemade yummy cookies, soda, tea, and hot chocolate are available to guests anytime as well as attractive sitting areas, games, books, and videos which may be played using the TV in the bedroom. During the daytime we enjoyed walking well maintained trails at the nearby state park.---Myra and Herb

My wife and I stayed at the Wood Duck Inn for our 10th anniversary, and we were not disappointed! Mr. and Mrs. Krummel run an excellent B&B with beautiful and clean rooms, great home cooked food for breakfast, and a great atmosphere. The scenery can't be summed up in words, plus you are not far away from town for nice dinners and window shopping.

A great stay at a great price!

Very well-maintained property, large, comfortable, and clean room, delicious food, helpful but unobtrusive hosts. Only minor critique is that our bathroom (in the carriage house) needed updating. The area is pretty and has some nice hiking close by, but not much else that we could ascertain. Overall a very good deal for a getaway weekend as compared with many other B+B's in which we've stayed.

The Wooden Duck is a beautiful place tucked away in the Kittatiny mountains of North West NJ. My wife and I were married nearby at the Farmstead and spent our wedding night here. We loved it so much we return every year for our anniversary. The rooms are country and quiet, the landscape serene and Karl & Beth are wonderful hosts. Eating breakfast while looking out the wall sized window at the birds on the feeders is a real treat. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place to go.

I took my husband for his birthday. He loved it! We stayed in one of the rooms with a fireplace and soaking tub. It was very cozy...a perfect escape! We also had dinner at the Mohawk House. Everyone took such good care of us. Breakfast at the Wooden Duck Inn was so tasty too. What a great stay!

I'm a jersey guy through and through. I grew up 20 minutes from this place, yet I still found it hard to believe I was still in Jersey. We normally go to Vt. for our Fall foliage trip but after wooden duck, why? A bike path was 2/10ths of a mile away at Waywayanda state park. The Appalachian Trail is literally in the back yard. The rooms are fantastic. 2 person tub, direct tv. remote controlled fireplace, private deck, four poster bed (with phenomenal linens) Great sitting room, gracious hosts and terrific breakfast. It was one place that was so nice, I wouldn't have minded if it rained. Place was full and amazingly, mostly fellow jerseyans (and one Frenchman). We'll be back for sure!

We finally had a chance at a short R&R weekend but didn't want to travel a great distance from home. Chose The Wooden Duck Inn off the internet and just took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised -- and delighted with our choice. We stayed in the Mallard Room but from what we could see they all looked beautiful, and clean. The inn itself is nicely appointed. Quality shines through in all the furnishings, woodwork and public rooms. There is an outdoor pool - something you don't usually find in a B&B. There are plenty of landscaped grounds and the inn is adjacent to walking trails and a state park. We were there before the Fall but I can only imagine the area in leaf season. Must be gorgeous. Our hosts, Karl and Beth, could not be more congenial and informative. And the included breakfast was without doubt the best we ever enjoyed at a
similar accommodation.
In summary, The Wooden Duck was a great find, and being so close to home, one we plan to return to in the future.
