“Overpriced for convenience”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

We stayed here for one night to catch our flight home from EWR to STL. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to EWR since we were returning a rental car and our flight was relatively early the next day. We paid $256 for a NS King room on the 7th floor. We happened to check in on Mother's Day and the restaurant was hosting a Mother's Day brunch. Service was terrible and while the brunch was supposed to end at 3p...they offered it to us after 4p. No thanks- considering the price ($36 pp), we had no way of knowing how long the food had been out. They were also hosting some other party in a ballroom- there were a lot of people milling about the elevators and there were bouncers at the front door. Our check-in was odd- where is the front desk? Their front desk is the size of a concierge desk at other hotels and was missed by many people the first turn around the floor. The room was cramped but clean. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. The hallways were noisy but since we sleep with the TV on, we were not kept up by other people outside. We did use the business center to print our boarding passes for free. We did room service twice- late dinner snack and breakfast. They were well priced and the food was good. We give this two stars- too expensive, not comfortable and not as easy to use as expected for an airport hotel.

the staff at this Marriott are the friendliest and most helpful of the various hotels we stayed at in our travels this year.
shuttle drivers are helpful and kind, restaurant staff possess great humor and were attentive and friendly. The martinis are made to perfection. Food was some of the best hotel food we ate in years. The spinach artichoke dip was a meal in itself! The steak - grilled medium rare perfection. The recent renovations are a nice improvement and the citrus water and tea in the lobby a welcome treat.

What a joke... At one time in the 80's when this hotel first opened it was good enough for president Reagan to stay here. Now I wouldn't ask to board my dog here. Small rooms & i am platinum elite & had a king room on the concierge floor. Noisy stupid linen closets that take up half ur closet & staff going in at all hours of the night to get towels & linens instead of going downstairs. Now lets talk about the lousy concierge lounge....too crowded & noisy. Just stayed at one of their best properties in San Diego now I stayed in one of the worst .

Needing a 7 hour stopover between flying into JFK and needing to fly out of Newark at dawn the next day, I chose this hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Marriott's globally are generally good and this is no different. Comfortable rooms and a friendly bar to kill a few hours.

You can't beat the convenience. The service is great and it is probably the best airport hotel experience we have had. A very nice room on the concierge floor and we found great value. We don't like to spend the night in Newark between flights, but if we do this is THE place to stay.

Room Tip: Concierge floor for the bast value

This Marriott has the highly attentive staff that I have come to expect from Marriott properties. The hotel is nearby to the airport. To say it is "right at the airport" is technically not completely true, because it is not attached in a "walk right in" way; rather you have to take a shuttle. The rooms are completely clean. The bed was comfy and there was a nice terrycloth robe so that I could pretend I was Hugh Hefner for the evening. The restaurant is pricey but the food was delicious. Room service is prompt.

Negative: The internet costs money, and I had on-and-off internet connectivity despite paying. They refunded the charge and apologized. So if you are dependent on having streaming internet (like for skype), be careful.

Room Tip: Join Marriott's frequent guest program.

Nice Marriott hotel located directly in sight of the airport with 24/7 shuttles every 15 minutes. Nice room, and 10th floor lounge had excellent full breakfast on weekdays, with drinks and snack in evening. Very convenient for a quick business trip, and geared to support travelers and business meetings.
