“Nice transit stop”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

The hotel was available on short notice when we missed our connection.
Free shuttle was fast both at night as well as the morning. Be careful to book shuttle to airport as our preferred time was full.
Check in was fast and friendly.
Internet was included as was breakfast, but we left too early to try it.
Best was very comfortable.
I would visit again

What was great about this hotel:
1. Free Parking
2. Free Airport Transfer
3. Free Continental Breakfast (great variety)
4. Friendly Staff

What wasn't great:
1. Location - hard to find
2. Room - damp carpet smell which I suspect was due to AC system leaking water onto carpet

If you are lucky to be assigned a room without the damp smell, then you will enjoy your stay.

The location was excellent. Because the purpose of our trip was sightseeing in New York City, and we drove but did not want to drive in the "city" the free parking and transportation options were perfect for us. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating and had preprinted options to get to the city. They have round the clock shuttles (free) to the airport and from there we took the train. The hotel itself seemed brand new, was spotless clean and the room was very comfortable.

For decades I have gone to Newark as a business traveler and usually stayed outside New York City because of the exorbitant hotel costs in NYC.

Newark has always been more reasonable.

Yes, it takes time to get to and from Manhattan by train or bus and if someone else is paying the tab, it's easy to just cave in and pay three or four or five hundred dollars a night for a room in the Big, Expensive Apple.

This property is well kept in the Marriott tradition and has all of the conveniences one would expect.

Shuttle to and from the airport terminals takes about 10-15 minutes and, as of this time, runs 24 hours a day.

The hotel is in a group of other Marriott properties along Routes 1 and 9 and within a short distance of I 78 and the NJ Turnpike.

Parking is secure, but not free.

The Junior Suite I had was comfortable and had 2 TVs, a small fridge, coffee maker, a sitting area and the usual well-fitted bathroom.

Front desk was exceptional in providing help in finding the hotel's location and gave excellent driving directions.

The only negative I found was that there was considerable highway noise around the clock, at least on the higher floor where I was.

What it comes down to is that if you are flying in or out of EWR, this is a good choice and rates are about half of what you'd pay in NYC.

Room Tip: Lower floor might be quieter.

We found the hotel to be clean and reasonably comfortable. However, if you don't have a car, the dining options are very limited for dinner. There was a restaurant walking distance from the hotel at the Courtyard but ultimately we opted to go to the Renaissance which entailed taking the hotel shuttle to a meeting point at the airport for hotel shuttles and then picking up the Renaissance shuttle. We were fortunate in our timing but the trip could have taken much longer had we not planned it carefully.

Wifi was free and worked well. The staff was efficient and friendly. For the price it is a good choice.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room away from the elevator.

Drove to this hotel, going on a cruise out of
Cape Liberty. VERY difficult to find if you're not familiar with Newark roads! Made a reservation for room and car parking. Was quoted the wrong price for long-term parking and I had asked twice if price she was quoting me over phone was correct. Manager adjusted the price for us and we were very pleased especially since they do not have a shuttle to and from the port (taxi was $50.00 each way and hotel will arrange when you arrive if you ask). Hotel lobby, breakfast area, exercise room, and room were very clean, decor good, beds great, staff excellent--very kind and helpful, have laundry and pool, complimentary breakfast good, no restaurant but casual Bistro next door at another hotel. Wish they had a shuttle service to and from the port even if we had to pay, it might be less expensive than the taxi rate. They only reason we would not stay here again, if we're driving, is the cost of the taxi. Might need to look for a closer hotel to the port or one with a port shuttle service.

Room Tip: Did hear planes from airport but not overly loud. Ask if any side is quieter.

Picked up from EWR in a free shuttle - the driver was polite and helpful.
At check in the night manager was fast polite & let us know lots of information about the hotel that we didn't know or expect.

The room was simple but very comfortable, the AC a touch loud, beds well made and comfortable, shower good and everything very clean.
Unexpected bonus was a basic but free breakfast and 24hr tea and coffee & fruit baskets in the lobby.

Not bad but fairly strange was the choice of carpet - lime green and black squares - ick.

Overall a surprise for a airport hotel, if only this property was in NYC!!!
