This was my first experience with a bed & breakfast, and I suspect that nothing else will compare. Let me start out saying Dancer Farm website is one of the rare things in that the rooms look even better in person than what the pictures depict. Ten rooms, each with a different themed decor. Utilizing local antiquities in the public spaces as well as the rooms. I was glad that I'd brought my mother, the antiques dealer, because her appreciation was off-the-charts. Our two night stay was a getaway for myself and mom, so I wanted one of the rooms with a sofa bed. I chose Room Five, The Lighthouse-Keepers Quarters. While it's not one of the rooms with a balcony, it afforded each of us the most personal space.
It was a good destination for us because we each got to enjoy different aspects. She was happy chilling.. I was happy walking around seeing all the horses. I don't think I've ever taken so many pictures. There's outlet shopping not too far away.
I'd say the only challenge is that dinner requires that you go on a journey. Us being city women, we do get a little turned around on all these dark roads at night. I think next time I'll just grab some stuff to bring back to the room from one of the Wawa convenience stores and soak up the relaxation of Dancer Farm. There's numerous shared spaces. Forget to bring a book? You might like something that's in your room. Or on the bookshelves on the second floor. Maybe a game of Scrabble is in order, borrow one of theirs and use the sitting area. Help yourself to beverages. The attention to hospitality is sublime.
This is the place to recharge your batteries, I can't wait to return. I plan on bringing my husband. He'll enjoy the horses, maybe we'll avail ourselves of the massage facilities. I can tell this place had a positive impact on me because I've already returned in my dreams. I want to experience the different rooms. Getting a chance to see some of the other rooms.was a plus. We felt so welcomed, so well looked after. Mom, who wouldn't have chosen a visit to a b&b, is already trying to see if we can coordinate some vacation time with other family members to enjoy Dancer Farm again and introduce them to the sublime experience. But first, I'm getting my husband there on my own. Oh yeah.
In departing, our hostess, from the other side of the kitchen counter, offered a handshake. Oh no, that wouldn't do. I insisted she come around to this side and get a hug.

I loved this bed & breakfast! As a frequent user of TripAdvisor, I was hesitant to try out this inn that my husband found on the internet. I checked out it's website which looked great, but couldn't understand why there were no reviews on TripAdvisor.
Needless to say - we had a wonderful time! Dancer Farm is located on 250 acres which includes a restored farmhouse with beautiful rooms, a stable where we were able to take horseback riding lessons, nature preserves that we were able to hike around and more (vineyard & winery)!
The innkeepers were very pleasant and non-intrusive (always a plus!). They were always available when we needed them - offering to make reservations, providing directions to nearby towns, etc. The breakfasts were excellent - nothing too fancy, but filling, well made meals. I wish they offered dinner too! All the rooms were decorated differently, but tastefully...the ones I saw all had fireplaces, central a/c, and choices of things such as iron claw tubs or whirlpools, in addition to showers. Our room also had a porch with rocking chairs, overlooking the beautifully landscaped front of the inn.
The town itself was very rural, which made it such a nice getaway...lots of horses and other animals around as well as different farms. Overall loved the experience - in addition to inn's close proximity to NYC..only 1 hr 1/2 away! We went in early summer, but can't wait to go again in the fall and to try it during a snowy winter weekend!
