“Extremely Good and Non-Traditional”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

We love Aja. Whenever we are in New Brunswick we go to try some of the old favorites and to see what new inventions are on the menu. As well as your traditional sushi and sashimi, Aja has some very interesting creations, always made from the freshest ingredients.

“Cool ambiance fresh food nice selections”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

The restaurant is very pretty. We had the clay pot beef as an appetizer and wonton soup, tasted very authentic. I had sushi very fresh, my husband had hibachi, again very fresh and a healthier version then a shogun. However, service was lacking, not very attentive except for the gentleman that kept our waters full.Price was reasonable I would give this 3.5 stars if I could.

“Consistently delicious”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

The food here is always spot on, from sushi, to fish to chicken. Lunch bento box is a great deal, and lots of food. Excellent and good service. Happy hour is very inexpensive for cocktails and they also offer Rutgers student discounts, although they don't advertise it really, so ask for the menu. The environment is soothing and relaxing during the day, and lively at night.

“Beautiful decor inside and good food”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

This is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Route 18. Was formerly the site of Fuddruckers Restaurant. Been here twice now. Odd décor outside; just doesn't seem to stand out so someone would know it's a restaurant. But once you get inside, WOW! Just beautiful inside. A lot of Japanese and Chinese elements, including artwork and sculptures an colored accent lighting. There's a long aquarium with goldfish that will nibble (somewhat hard) your fingers if you put them in the water near the fish. A bit dark inside though; made it a little hard to read the menu.

Most of the food items are Japanese cuisine: sushi, miso soup, bento boxes, teriyaki, etc. But the selection is truly more like Asian fusion to include elements of Thai, Malaysian and Chinese cuisines. I've had the bento box on both visits. Nice combo that includes soup, salad, rice, and a choice of a sushi roll, an appetizer and an entrée.

Have never ordered the desserts here, so I cannot comment on those. Our group did try out a few of their specialty cocktails; some were too sweet and also a bit expensive.

“Really good asian food in what used to be a Fudruckers site.”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

This site used to be a Fudruckers hamburger chain site, but you'd never know it. With a total interior and exterior makeover, this new restaurant is quite attractive. The food was also very good. We all had Bento Boxes, and it's a lot of food, including a large bowl of soup (miso, hot & sour or wonton) a seaweed salad, gyoza, a spicy tuna roll, rice, and your choice of main courses. It's served in a double-decker bento box for $25.. We enjoyed them all, but you may want to have one person order a Bento, and the other a main course. You can share all the accompanying stuff in the Bento and the main courses.

One thing hasn't changed from the Fudrucker days of yore, it's easy to miss the entrance. It's right after going under an overpass, and it's hard to get into the right lane quickly enough, But if you can turn off into the parking lot of the next-door motel, the parking lots are connected. Be careful getting into the right lane!!!
