“Getting the Band Back Together”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

We went to see this show with another couple on the recommendation of mutual friends. This show was wonderful and lived up to the recommendation. The music was new and while not very memorable, fit perfectly with the scenes of the show. The acting was well done and the dancing was upbeat. George Street is a small theater so all seats are good, they even invited a guest from the first row to participate in the show after the person acknowledged that he had been in a band in his youth.

“Great place to support theater close to home”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Always new artists, new pieces, interesting takes on classics. A well worth it theater to support. Reasonably priced as well, and lots of educational opportunities.

“Terrific small theater.”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

There's nothing like a live theater performance in an intimate setting. This small theater has excellent shows. I've seen many here over the years. The concession stand with seating is a nice addition where you can get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine before the show or at intermission. Parking is TOUGH in this area so I suggest you get there early.

“Great Shows in an Intimate Venue”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse consistently produces top-notch shows, including promising new plays never performed before. Some are hits; others misses. All are well produced. We attended the first preview performance of "Rich Girl," a 21st century updating of Henry James' classic "Washington Square," a/k/a "The Heiress," which recently ran on Broadway with Jessica Chastain and David Straithern. Victoria Stewart's play recasts the unloving parent as a Suze Orman/Jean Chatzsky telegenic financial advisor (Tony award nominee Dee Hoty) whose daughter struggles unsuccessfully to earn her mother's love. Enter her handsome high school classmate, now an actor struggling to fund a theater company, and the plot thickens. Fast-paced and often funny, "Rich Girl" is a worthy updating of the Henry James classic and, unlike "The Heiress," ends on a note of hope, not despair. Don't miss it.
