We booked this place without a lot of research, based on Wyndham name and appearance on the web site. Check-in went well with the couple people working being very friendly and welcoming. However, a quick look told us the place was old and feeling older. Decor and cleanliness told of better days in the past. Our room was large, with a nice couch, but it was covered with a 1970's style plastic like you might expect in Motel 6. The mattress was older and one where every move is felt by both, but not so bad we couldn't sleep and being tired we figured it would work. And we were just passing through and looking for a good night's sleep anyway, so we left for a bite to eat.
When we returned after supper, all was fine for a while. About 8:30 or 9:00 the music started. We were on the 5th floor, and a 'sweet 16' party was on the first floor, but we could feel the vibrations and bass pounding, louder than the TV in our own room. Not knowing what was happening at first, I went downstairs to check and found you couldn't have a normal conversation in the lobby because of the noise, so it wasn't that management didn't know. I asked how late and they said it goes until 11:00 or so. So much for good night's sleep! I asked for a room change - they moved us up to 8th floor... No offer of help with moving our stuff from them - but we got it done after a few trips.
It was quieter - we could still hear a little but by turning on fans we overcame the party noise. All was good and we got to sleep UNTIL 2:55 when it turned out that some of the "sweet" 16's decided to prank people on our floor, pounding on the door. Jumping up to see if there was a fire, I saw them running into a door across the hall. Figuring that would be the end, I went back to bed and light sleep. 3:35 - same thing. Not too much sleep the rest of the night....
I complained at the desk in the morning and asked the clerk if she would be sure that the parents of the group knew about the pranks. I thought there might be some apology, given the series of problems but none.
Hard to believe that management didn't realize the noise of the party was out of control and disrupting others. Several people in the elevators remarked about the 'bad night' and noise.
The hotel needs a remake and update. Just as critical though will be effective management who are thinking about all their customers rather than whoever booked the party.
