“Nice for family trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

Overall it was a good stay, kitchen well equipped, very roomy. Downside would be carpets worn looking and the upholstery on sofa/chair were stained.
Breakfast was very good, more options than norm. Location is good, close to wholefoods where we went to get supplies for dinner. Front desk service a little lacking, not the friendliest but not impolite either. Would definitely stay again on next trip to Sahara Sam's.

Travel for work to Marlton area and Hyatt House is one of the places that I choose to stay. There has been a lot of positive changes that I have observed, one bringing a new GM and the GM bringing in new talent, who have been very enthusiatic in helpling and it is good to see they going an extra mile to keep us travellers happy. As with any property there have been some issues during this heavy rainy season, I have to applaud them for diligently working and doing their best for taking corrective actions. Lately I have seen some nice changes to the breakfast area presentation and the addition of Oat Meal etc., Hope we continue to see more postive changes.

Visiting one of our daughters who had recently moved to Philadelphia to attend school, I looked on the Internet and found that there was both a Hyatt house and a Hyatt Place in Mt. Laurel New Jersey, both listed that they were less than 12 miles from Philadelphia.

Desiring enough stays to obtain Diamond status with Hyatt and having had good experiences with Hyatt house properties in California, we booked two nights at the Hyatt house and one night at the Hyatt Place.

Our experiences at the two hotels were quite dissimilar.

When I attempted to check in on the first night at the Hyatt house there was no one at the front desk. After a couple of minutes someone appeared and was able to give us a room on the ground floor (the hotel does not have elevators and the thought of carrying our luggage up two flights of stairs was not appealing). When we got to the room, it was nicely appointed except for the fact that the chair accompanying the working desk was beat up and looked like it had been salvaged from a junk shop. The air conditioning worked fine, but made a loud noise every time it went on. The drain pipe also was quite loud when people in the rooms above us were using their bathrooms. At breakfast the next morning, the breakfast room was basically a construction zone with a limited choice of items and overcrowded with families.

We were happy to leave the hotel to move to the Hyatt Place. There the manager personally welcomed us and made us feel our business was important. The room was nicely appointed and quite clean. The breakfast room the next morning was busy, but staff managed to keep the food, plates, and cutlery well stocked. The manager came by at breakfast and asked me by name how everything was. I would not hesitate to return to this property.

Unfortunately, the reservation for our third night was back at the Hyatt house. While we did not get the same room, we got the room next door to it. I am happy to report the chair for the work table was in good condition, but my wife had to wipe down the toilet seat before she would be willing to sit on it.

What we did not realize when we booked the rooms was that there was a $5 toll to cross from New Jersey to Philadelphia. As we spent the entire day in Philadelphia this was not too bad, but when factoring in the roughly 22 mile commute to the hotels, if I had to do it over again, I would simply stay in Philadelphia. However, if you are going to be in southwestern New Jersey and Mt. Laurel is a reasonable destination, I would definitely recommend the Hyatt Place and strongly urge you to avoid the Hyatt house.

We stay here often due to working in the area. On the positive side, there is plenty of space for the 2 of us, there is a full oven in the kitchen, and the beds are okay. There is a hot breakfast 7 days a week and an evening meal Mon-Thurs. They have recently started serving better evening meals, but there are rubber eggs for breakfast every morning, and mixed fruit which is pretty awful. There is a big selection, though. Negatives: First, the mediocre housekeeping. It's not gross, but I always have to wash the dishes when we first arrive, and they are inconsistent about vacuuming. They don't clean behind the bathroom door unless asked. Most of the housekeepers don't speak English so if you ask them something, they will agree, but that doesn't mean it will happen. I've learned a little more Spanish while staying here...another positive. The TV goes out a lot, during every storm and even when the weather is fine. If you call the front desk, the answer is always "We're working on it." Another huge negative is the noise. If you are on the inside of the buildings, be prepared to listen to shouts and booms from the basketball court till 10pm or later. The walls are paper thin and last week I thought there were elephants in the room above us. Third floor is better if you don't mind hauling your luggage up 3 flights of stairs...no elevators! I could go on and on - the internet which often doesn't work, sometimes you can't close the bedroom door because the bed is too close to the wall, there is a gym, but it's quite stinky in the summer. We continue to stay because of the location, the price, and the decent beds, but I sure wish they would upgrade the housekeeping and the food.

Beautiful hotel, staff was very accomidating. Clean and great for families or business. Allowed us to check in a couple hours early with no hassle. Pool was clean and well cared for, this hotel had all the amenities you could ask for. There is food available at all hours. Rooms are very large and comfortable. Free wifi and was strong.

Room Tip: Please don't pass up this hotel. So happy we stayed with them.

I stayed at the Hyatt House for two nights in the two bedroom suite each with its own bathroom. The rooms are apartment style with a kitchen if you decide to cook. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough for us (2 adults 1 kid and 1 infant). The bathrooms could probably use a little upgrade but overall no complaints with the rooms. Its alot better than alot of previous hotels I've stayed. Highly recommended and we will return. The only issue i have is on our checkout day there were workers painting and making alot of noise outside our window early from 8:00 am.

Just recently spent a week here as a cheap place to stay for day trips to Philly and NYC. Booked a King suite and it was quite spacious. The kitchen area was nicer than my own apartment! It was great to be able to eat some meals in the room thanks to the kitchen. Wi-fi was strong and worked well. Didn't hear much noise from other guests except for when people left in the mornings and came down the stairs (I was on the bottom floor) and some guest nearby had a dog in the room that barked every so often. On a side note, being pet-free was one of the reasons that I booked this hotel but that dog was there for the whole week! There's no way they couldn't have known - so that might be enough to deter me from staying there again.

Found it kind of odd that there was no in-room safe. And there was no extra TP in the room when I arrived, which was a little inconvenient since I was there for a week. Overall though, it was very clean and a great experience. Finding the check-in office was a little difficult though since it isn't marked (look for the row of handicapped spaces and you'll see hte office behind it.)
