We visited last week and were amazed by the tour of the Log House. Pat, our tour docent was great and very informative. We weren't expecting much and were pleasantly surprised by the museum's collection of Stickley furniture. Kudos to the town for maintaining such a gem. Definitely worth a visit and great way to spend an hour or two.

“A well-kept secret!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

We had lived less than a mile from this museum for more than six years before we finally got there. As a major piece of North Jersey history, our visit was long overdue. The tour through the house and around the grounds brought to life much of what Sticklely did to contribute to this area's history. He had quite a large influence on what is today the heart of Morris County and Northern NJ.

I think most area residents have little idea as to our region's history and the importance it played in America's early development. Well worth a visit...

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

Very much enjoyed our tour of the museum. The museum had been the Stickley home, although the original intent was for it to become a school. In addition to being very well versed in the history of the house and its contents, our excellent guide shared stories about the family and the process the museum has gone through to reclaim some of the original furniture.

So often we live in an area where there is an attraction well worth seeing, but we never visit. This is one of those "hidden gems". Do visit and do take some time to stop in the gift shop.

“Great Arts & Crafts Cabin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

We live in an Arts & Crafts bungalow, so this was a real treat. If you are interested in the Arts & Crafts Movement and Gustav Stickley, then touring the house is a great way to spend a couple of hours! We went on a miserable cold, snowy day and thought for sure we'd be the only ones there. As it turned out, 15 other people had the same idea! Tours are throughout the afternoon and our tour guide (Laura R.) was terrific. She was knowledgable, down to earth and quite humorous. The house and furnishings are beautiful and well preserved.

I was bummed that there was no photography allowed (inside the house), but check out their website for some great "Then and now" shots. The house is not huge, but bigger than it looks. There is a nice gift shop in what used to be the kitchen. When the weather is nicer, we will go back and check out the grounds.

Fun to go back to the website after visiting the place.

Don't miss the miniature of the house on the porch where the tour starts!

“Stickley serenity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

Love this place. Often take visitors here and a visit last weekend was just such an event. Arrived just in time for the 3:15 tour and as luck would have it, we got a private tour, just three of us. We had plenty of time and got all our questions answered. Another reviewer called this location a time capsule which it surely is and maybe why I titled the review Stickley Serenity because it is so peaceful though just behind route 10! Can't photograph unless outside which is a big bummer but I've been so many times, the place is etched in my mind, I think. No visitor that I've ever taken has yet been disappointed I think because of the thorough nature of the tour and the knowledge of the guides/docents. It's on my bucket list to go at Christmas time yet to see the decorations...
