“Loved Chestnut Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2008

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at Chestnut Hill, as the previous reviewer says its like leaving relatives as Linda & Rob make you feel like part of the family. Everything about our stay was wonderful. We stayed in the Summer Morning room which is beautifully decorated, with a comfy bed that you just dont want to leave and a large ensuite bathroom with a big jacuzzi tub and shower. Breakfast every morning was delicious and very filling.
We will definately return.

My husband and I just returned from a 2-night stay at Chestnut Hill on the Delaware. We enjoyed our time immensly and wish it were longer. The owners Linda and Rob were wonderful hosts. It was like visiting relatives you never met, then realizing they're so nice that you wish you could see them more often!

Their Victorian home is beautifully decorated. The rooms are very pretty and exceptionally clean. The grounds are lovely and their private dock on the delaware river bank is right in front of the house. Their website is loaded with pictures of the house and property. We were delighted when Rob took us and the other guests on a boat ride after breakfast. He pointed out many facts and history on the river and Milford.

Milford is a very tiny town but there are many other small towns very close by with nice shops and dining. Also, there are at least 3 vineyards within 10 min drive. There is a bike rental shop in Frenchtown (next town over). In Milford we dined at the Milford Oyster House (excellent) and the Ship Inn (decent). We also had lunch at Cocina del Sol in Frenchtown (very good).

Breakfast at Chestnut Hill is excellent. Linda is an awesome cook and both meals we had with her were wonderful. We stayed in the Bayberry Room which is actually the smallest but more than adequate. The wallpaper was very pretty, and there were many little touches in the room which gave it personality. No TV (fine by us) but lots of books to read. The bathroom for this room is private but across the hall. Beautiful bathroom with a lovely floral silkscreen on the walls.

We're looking forward to our next visit!

  • Liked — The Owners' Hospitality
  • Disliked — Since it's an older house and not a hotel, the walls are a little thin, we could hear people in the room above

This was a surprise weekend from my husband. We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before. I always thought they looked so cute but had been hesitant to book one because I thought we thought we'd feel a little uncomfortable in someone's "home." My husband's co-worked had stayed here many times before and highly recommened it. This was so much nicer than I could have imagined! The view was beautiful, the decor was gorgeous and it was not uncomfortable at all. We had our own kitchen area in our Paradise suite which is in the "Country Cottage." The Inn keepers are wonderful people too! We will certainly return (we're starting to plan our next trip here already as a matter of fact!)

  • Liked — How peaceful the area is and the restaurant within walking distance (the Ship Inn)
  • Disliked — Having to leave

We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and this one is a winner. I can not say enough good things about this place. The view of the river is wonderful. We especially enjoyed sitting on the rockers on the porch and watching the sunset.
The hosts Linda and Rob are warm friendly people and very helpful. The place was very clean and the room was nicely decorated. Both days during our stay we were served a delicious breakfast.
It was my birthday and Linda made me feel special. We have already booked our next stay at this wonderful place.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely weekend at this charming B&B. The innkeepers were warm and welcoming, the breakfasts were fabulous and the setting was so serene and peaceful I hated to leave. We enjoyed shopping and dining in New Hope and then relaxing and unwinding in quiet Milford. The beautiful Delaware River is right in the front yard and we enjoyed a brief cruise on the river with our fellow guests courtesy of the innkeepers. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love this bed & breakfast!!! It is not a far drive from NYC and yet you feel like you are in heaven. If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay especially for a romantic getaway, then this is the place to be. It is such a lovely place and the owners Rob & Linda are such wonderful people! It is a house from the 1800's and very well kept & there is a lovely view of the Delaware River. The town of Milford is small but there are plenty of other places to visit while you are there too. On the New Jersey side, there is Frenchtown, Flemington & Lambertsville and for the PA side, there is New Hope and Lahaska (Peddler's Village - great shops & restaurants). I have been to this B&B at least 4 times and plan to go back once a year to celebrate my anniversary & look forward to it every time! See for yourself - you will love it too!

This bed and breakfast captured so much. First of all it sits on the Delaware River with a view of Pennsylvania, and you can walk a small bridge from N.J. to Pennsylvania. The most patient B+B owners I ever met are Linda and Rob. They are very proud and appreciative of their home ,very welcoming and not intrusive. Their pristine home was built in the 1800's with immaculate spacious rooms and comfy beds. Sipping afternoon tea in a wooden rocker on the quiet front porch was priceless. Linda's breakfasts are delicious and ample. We had a fabulous lemon breakfast souffle'. Make sure and ask Linda about the history of the inn and town, fascinating! After having fun of visiting the not too far touristy towns and flea markets we looked so forward to going back to relax at Chestnut Hill and unwind. A spoiled step back in time experience!!
