Description: Nestled in Historic Mendham NJ, Piattino is serving up great Italian Fare with a modern twist, sourcing artisan ingredients from across the world and our own back yard. Our chef has crafted a menu full of new takes on classic entrees and pastas. And, our stone-fired 800° oven results in authentic Neapolitan style pizzas and sandizza's (our version of a Panini) with ingredients ranging from truffled wild mushrooms to 24 month aged prosciutto di Parma. The cocktails are made from scratch infused with house made simple syrups, fresh fruit and herbs that complement the menu along with a carefully selected wine and beer list. It is our goal to create a warm and inviting atmosphere with exceptional service for the neighborhood for years to come.

Even though there is pizza on the menu, don’t expect to see chicken parmigiana. We arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night and despite being very crowded had a seat right away for 2.

Lively atmosphere with a bar and very nice and attentive waitstaff. The specials had a Tuscan theme which I love given we love the food in that region of Italy.

I started with a Tuscan special salad, the harvest panzanella. It was different than your typical panzanella salad with cooked butternut squash and Brussels sprouts to compliment the tomatoes. It was delicious.

My wife had the classic pasta with meatballs and I had the Genoa pasta which was fried shrimp over a bed of linguine. Both of these dishes were very good and flavorful.

For desert we had the cannoli bowl and a lemon olive oil cake. The cannoli cream was very good and the cake was a bit dry and not moist as I was expecting.

For wines, they have a modest offering with a wide range of price points.

I recommend if you are looking for a twist on Italian from your local pizza and pasta shop.

Wanted to try for some time. Fair to good. Saturday special linguini white clam sauce hadbjot pepper flakes. My wife ordered it,and it was inedible for her. Hot pepper does not belong in this dish. I had the Piattinp pizza very good and exchanged it with my wife.
IPA good. White wines by the glass are obscenely overpriced $11 for an Italian chardonnay? $16 for a Pinot Grigio $17 for a Cakebread chardonnay glass at best 5.oz.
Tried OK but won't go again.

Better for take-out. We love the Quattro Formaggio Pizza and the Oven-Baked Meatballs. Dining-in is inconsistent - spotty service with occasional long waits.

Our family (3 adults/3 kids) went for dinner there on Sunday after the town carnival over Labor Day weekend. The service was really very attentive, and in particular the waiter could remember everyone's order (who ordered what) when food and drinks arrived. Good training but not something you see much of these days. We ordered mainly pasta dishes. Unfortunately the pasta was overcooked on all the orders. Disappointing because the sauce and meatballs were great. It was late and we didn't complain, but I'd be careful about ordering a pasta dish there again. Maybe pizza next time.
