In an age when we're America's roadside attractions are disappearing, Lucy remains tall as a tribute to late 19th century popular culture. The Save Lucy committee has done a wonderful job of restoring and preserving this six-story-high structure. Neither you nor your kids will soon forget a visit here. Lucy is part of vanishing American that doesn't appear to be going away soon. I was amazed at the size of the interior room. Everything is in wonderful condition. Spend the small amount of money they ask to go inside and help preserve this amazing icon.

We stopped to see Lucy after leaving Atlantic City. I love the tourist trap kind of thing so it was fun to look at her and get some pictures. The restoration is going well but poor Lucy still has a broken tail. I didn't opt for the tour as I had been told before that it wasn't really worthwhile. Overall, it was a great 5 minutes. When they say they have picnic facilities be aware that this means one old picnic table sitting in the grass behind Lucy's butt. Lucy's story is interesting and I would recommend stopping if you are on your way by. I wouldn't make a special trip since there really isn't much to do/see and you won't be there long.

I am a big fan of elephants, but had never had the chance to visit Lucy. However, a wedding in New Jersey gave me the opportunity to visit, and Lucy was the highlight of the whole trip. If you pay $6, you can climb up inside of Lucy, first to the inner chamber where you watch a movie about Lucy's history, and then up to the howdah (the sitting platform on her back). You get a great view of the entire area from up above (but if you go on a windy day like we did, prepare to almost get blown off), including the Margate water tower that features Lucy's picture. Lucy is easy to get to from either Ocean City or Atlantic City. The only thing that readers need to be warned about is that Lucy's steps are small and curvy, and the stairwell is narrow, so a trip inside of Lucy will not be possible if you are fat or don't like tight spaces.

We detoured here from Wildwood NJ. It was cute but not worth the extra time. It is open late, so we didn't waste too much daytime on this trip.

Took my 3 year old by this during a day trip down the shore. It could be considered a bit pricy however, there are discount tix available in addition to the fact that the money goes towards the upkeep and preservation. Don't expect to spend tons of time there though. Nice picture opps at the top.
