My husband had heard about Lucy and we finally planned a trip to A.C. that didn't involve a concert. We stayed in A.C. because there are no motels in Margate, but it's a quick drive along Atlantic Avenue for just a few miles and you enjoy the drive through lovely beach towns like Ventor and Longport. Lucy is six stories tall and really built like a house with tiny windows all over the body and the door is in the leg.

Admission is worth $7. You climb a tiny staircase and walk into a Victorian-style wooden interior, similar to ship interior. The volunteer docent offers an interesting talk, and if you climb to the top outside, the view of the town, the beach and far-off A.C. is breathtaking. Walking on the beach was peaceful and meditative.

We had so much fun that we are planning to rent a condo next fall and enjoy the town of Margate. We "liked" Lucy's Facebook and were relived to see she stood tall against the Hurricane winds.

We had read about Lucy in a guide book and were keen to see her, we weren't disappointed. Short but fascinating tour and lovely views from inside Lucy over Margate. The volunteers are doing a brilliant job, keep up the good work! It was also good to hear that she came through Hurricane Sandy unscathed, but we are still thinking and praying for all our American Cousins who were not so lucky. Hope to visit with Lucy again soon !

Lucy is hug elephant built originally in 1881 to market real estate. It's a fun place for young and old. Situated next to the beach. She overlooks the ocean. There is a half hour tour which goes to the top overlooking Lucy's back; and a nice view of the city and ocean. A gift shop and picnic tables surround it. Lucy needs constant maintainance. Be sure to buy something to help support Lucy!

We stopped here just to look at this monument, but ended paying for the tour and went inside the elephant. The guide was short, but we learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. This is a great stop for when you are tired of the casinos.

I had always heard about Lucy and my husband had even seen her once as a child bit was great fun to not only see the restored elephant but to also climb up her leg into her "belly" and up to the howdah on top. Inside we watched an informative video of Lucy's history and saw artifacts of her past. Nice way to spend an hour on a beautiful fall weekend. Lookin good Lucy!
