My husband had heard about Lucy and we finally planned a trip to A.C. that didn't involve a concert. We stayed in A.C. because there are no motels in Margate, but it's a quick drive along Atlantic Avenue for just a few miles and you enjoy the drive through lovely beach towns like Ventor and Longport. Lucy is six stories tall and really built like a house with tiny windows all over the body and the door is in the leg.
Admission is worth $7. You climb a tiny staircase and walk into a Victorian-style wooden interior, similar to ship interior. The volunteer docent offers an interesting talk, and if you climb to the top outside, the view of the town, the beach and far-off A.C. is breathtaking. Walking on the beach was peaceful and meditative.
We had so much fun that we are planning to rent a condo next fall and enjoy the town of Margate. We "liked" Lucy's Facebook and were relived to see she stood tall against the Hurricane winds.
