“A REAL DINER!!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Horizon has been around for many years, and for good reason. You can get a really great breakfast (my favorite is Mexican eggs) abd a grat cup of coffee for reasonable prices. Lunchtime soups and sandwiches are very good too. They are open some nights for dinner, but I have not tried it yet. My favorite off-island breakfast place in a real, old-fashion diner.

“3.5 stars, not quite a 4”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

As far as diners go, this was good. Service was very good, which made all the difference. The crab cakes were filled with crab, and reasonably priced. The mac and cheese special was not good--didn't taste cheesy, no excuse for that. The place could use a refresh as it looks worn, but all in all, I'd go again. Good sized portions. Better than a 3 star rating, but not a 4

“Slightly better than average”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

We have been there 3 times. Pretty much what you would expect in a diner food wise. Enjoyed the chicken wrap. However, what put this diner slightly better than most we have tried is the service.is always very friendly and attentive.

“Okay, but not my favorite.”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

Actually the portions are too large. The food is good, but I think they could make the portions smaller and thus reduce the prices.

“Decent food, but felt nickled and dimed to death. Bathroom is awful.”
Reviewed November 14, 2011

Horizon Diner seems to have a captive audience, and seems to be taking advantage of that fact. The breakfast menu spells out the surcharge for substitutions ($1.25 for lettuce and tomato instead of home fries, and the list goes on and ON). I had a western omelet with eggwhites, hashbrowns, toast, and iced tea (no refills). My hubby had a western omelet with eggwhites, lettuce and tomato, a side of Canadian bacon, and coffee. The food was fine...nothing special, but nothing wrong, except for the bill, which came out to $27.00, not including tip. The service was friendly and warm, but these servers have been trained to cut waste. I'm frugal too, but seeing them pour leftover coffee from a thermal carafe back into the Bunn coffee machine made me cringe. The ladies room is in need of significant repair. Since that is a public room, it makes me wonder about the state of the parts of the restaurant that I can't see. I would not go back there unless I had read about significant improvements.
