The Garlic Rose generally presents garlic as a respected (usually subtle) complement to other flavors, though whole roasted heads of garlic (complimentary upon request) are an obvious exception. Given this guideline, the kitchen produces a marvelous selection of appetizers, entrees, and even a dessert that are uniformly delicious. The service is excellent -- nicely paced and properly attentive -- and the staff is knowledgeable about menu selections; substitutions are accepted (my wife insists on having the potatoes Gilroy as an accompaniment). This restaurant is BYO; given the quality of the food, I recommend bringing a wine you trust to complement your meal.
