We visited Ila Vicolo on Thanksgiving Day, which was probably a mistake. I've eaten at this restaurant before, and had good meals. But perhaps asking an Italian restaurant to serve an American Thanksgiving dinner was asking too much, so I will try to be a bit more generous on this grade, giving them a 3 instead of a 2.
The appetizers were nice, although also very Italian, as was to be expected. But we all ordered Thanksgiving turkey, which was supposed to come with mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce. It was pretty much a complete bust. Each of our table (of 11 people) received a different part of the turkey, sometimes with no white meat at all, sometimes with very little turkey at all, and with very else little else in the way of side dishes. My cranberry sauce was a small little smudge on the side of the plate that was the size of a pat of butter. Sorry, folks, this is Thanksgiving....read up on how it is "supposed to be."
Neither the turkey nor the side dishes measured up in either quantity or quality. they charged us extra for every refill glass of soda, which I thought was unusual for a place that was struggling to fill seats.
The inside of the restaurant is very pleasant, with two nice rooms and sufficient staff to handle the crowds, if they ever do arrive. I would go back to this place, but not on Thanksgiving.
