So I was visiting family in New Jersey. It was Christmas Eve and I was starving. Lo and behold, the restaurant in our hotel was still open at 10 pm. It was incredibly over priced, but the atmosphere was worth it. The restaurant was bathed in red light, with photos of New Jersey celebrity icons plastered on the wall, and a world beat Euro funk soundtrack playing. Totally retro cool, hilarious, and slightly seedy, all at the same time. I felt like I was in a French film from the mid 1960s, and something bad was about to happen. Alas, it didn't. My salad was fine. My wife's scallops were fine, and the cocktails hit the spot. The service was fine, considering it was Christmas Eve and everyone clearly wanted to go home. If you ever want an experience that is part David Lynch, part foreign film, and part sleaze, the Strip House is the place for you.
