“Great Fajitas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

I come here often. They have good fajitas and portion size is decent. Not really expensive. Love the sampler appetizer. They also have good frozen margaritas. Plus they have the movie theatre next door so it makes for a good night out.

“typically bland, like in California”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

Chevys Fresh Mex 20 years ago in California bay area was something new and refreshing, but even out there (especially in Rancho Cucamonga) Chevys has stabilized to some type of bland norm over the years. Unfortunately they replicated the same bland formula to the east coast, so although I don't view the restaurant's food selection positively, at least it's universally mediocre from coast to coast and I pretty much know what I'll get from order to invoice. I ate the Super Cinco this evening in Linden, NJ, with a raspberry tea. I can't understand the feta cheese on the taco and relleno pepper (as if they were trying to insert Greek style salad into a corn tortilla), why not pepper jack or cheddar garnished with cilantro, jalapeno and/or banana pepper? The salsa served with chips should be avoided because it's tasteless and I added the hot sauce available on the table top to the salsa in order to provide some tang to it and make it edible. The chips were thin and crispy though. I think this will be my last visit to Chevys ever again because I'm tired of average food. The table captain was friendly and allowed me to change table to the bar area before I ordered but the table waiter never smiled, wasn't friendly and radiated no flair whatsoever. I expected her to flip me off at some point during service; she must have been having a down day. The restaurant was clean inside and outside however. There wasn't much competition to Chevys Linden within walking distance--an Applebees (no thanks) and a Southern Smokehouse (which no one in the hotel knew anything about).

“Fresh and delicious”

Generous portions, chips and salsa kept coming. The restaurant was very busy, good sign. Would definitely return.

“Just okay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

The food is just average. The bar was busier than the restaurant, that should tell you something. I found it to be on the expensive side for the quality of the food. The chips were fresh and good! That was the upside.
