We ate there recently on a Friday night in the nostalgically decorated dining room. The ambiance was lovely, and the food superb. We started with the chicken liver pate which was smooth and flavorful, served with warm toasted homemade bread, chutney and spicy mustard. One of us had the filet mignon, which was a very generous steak, cooked perfectly to my taste and tender as butter. The other had the rack of lamb special with homemade lamb sausage. He loved it. The sides were wonderful, the vegetables fresh, as was the warm homemade bread for the table. The chef is very creative, and the wait staff was attentive, but not overly so, even though the restaurant and bar were busy. A great restaurant in a lovely town. We read on the menu that there is a fixed price supper club once a month, a great idea, and also very reasonable. We will definitely be back.
