“Warm, Cozy and Great Food”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

It hard to find a better place to enjoy the atmosphere and food on a cold winter afternoon than in the bar at Anton’s at the Swan. It’s truly a local’s place. While Anton’s has a main dining room and provides dinning at small tables in the bar, it’s the bar room that we like best. A fireplace keeps the place warm and cozy and the pictures of past presidents on the walls and flag above the bar provide a bit of history to the room. The bar menu is limited and not the same as offered as in the dining room are always excellent. Service is excellent. We usually will have Caesar salad or the beet salad followed by a steak and scalloped potatoes. They have a limited wine selection on the bar menu but you can also order wine from the dining room menu. Drinks before diner are always good. For more formal affairs the dining room is small and very comfortable. Great selection of food and a more robust menu, including a wide selection of meats and seafood. Reservations are accepted for the dining room but not the bar. Don't get fooled if you walk into the bar and see reserved signs on two of the tables - most of the table seating is for two so the larger tables that seat four are reserved for goups of three or more. If you are visiting Lambertville, NJ or New Hope PA, which is just across the bridge and within walking distance, Anton’s is wonderful and reasonably priced.

“Like being in the early 1900's”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

The decor was beautiful You really felt like you were in the early 1900's. Food was simply delicious, staff were very attentive. Every table was lit by candlelight. There is also a beautiful bar area, where the food is less expensive, and a beautiful outdoor seating area, with several fountains, weather permitting. We will definitely come back here again.

“Bar with Character-Bartender A Disaster”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

I don't know where he learned his manners or why they keep him, but apparently he's been here quite a while. Despite the attraction of the bar area, there is absolutely no reason to frequent this place.

We took a seat on a quiet night-just two others at the bar-where the six or seven bottles of wines served by the glass displayed on the front bar for guests to peruse were near at hand. We were looking at them one by one in order to choose, when out of the blue this offensive miscreant GRABS a bottle from my date's hand and scowls that he needed the bottle to serve a glass. Not another word. Not a simple request, nor a few seconds to allow her to put it down.

After pouring, he came back and collected all the bottles and placed them under the bar out of sight--for about five minutes--and then gathered them up and replaced them in front of us, exactly where they had been before, completely without explanation.

Never did ask which one we would have liked. Never did find out, as we certainly picked up and left-after a word with the restaurant manager, who was appalled, but unable to remedy the ongoing problem, as apparently the bar area is a separately operated concession within the general restaurant space.

What a surefire way for a restaurant to chase customers out the door!

“OF COURSE 5 *****”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Anton's.....We are during the week visitors to honor our quest of unhurried, quiet dining with few distractions of a romantic , leave your troubles and CELL PHONES at the door [ don't ya just wish that could catch on] evening, and in most cases, it is surely workin' out just fine.
The Swan bar is so cool, rivaling the Boat House in ambiance , lounge seating ,comfortable leather chairs ,iron framed windows on one whole wall, lots of dark wood, fire place, courtyard. A bar menu is available , though after a few well turned out cocktails, we ate in the dining room .
Food,? Although chef owned doesn't insure in all cases good food , in this case .....extraordinary
food served by a pleasant waitress efficiently with good humor . The room has a definitely old stately feel, pictures, mirrors and lighting of a manor house dining room ....a great night had by two folks lovin' life !
