We stayed here over the July 4th weekend. The rooms standard Doubletree fare in terms of furnishings, but are quite large with a separate living/sleeping area. Plenty of room for four adults or a family. Rooms that don't face Manhattan have a view of the city from the right perspective. There is a light rail station adjacent to the property that makes getting around easy. Harsimus Café breakfast staff is really friendly and accommodating.

Perfect location for visiting New York. View of lower Manhattan cant be beat. We did pay extra for the view. Wonderful and very safe neighborhood. 2 blocks to PATH station that will take you right into Manhattan. Room was clean and very spacious. When you replace the beds get rid of the doubles and go to queen sized. 2 normal sized people cant sleep in a double bed. Parking was very reasonable compared to New York. Breakfast was decent although I would not pay $10.00 for it. WiFi should be free to all guests not just Hilton honors guests. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a bar in the lobby which is nice after a long day of sightseeing. Hotel shuttle does quit running very early and will only take you a mile. Make sure to eat at Brownstone Diner in Jersey City. Reasonable priced and large portions.

There are sections of Jersey City I no longer recognize, as it has come such a long way. Doubletree by Hilton is part of that renaissance, and it is an asset to the area. The hotel is clean, bright, spacious and staffed by a friendly and helpful front desk. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. The addition of a microwave and refrigerator made the stay more comfortable, as did the nice surprise of a soy creamer option on the room service menu, helpful with a food allergy.

A total of six of us stayed for one night in two rooms at the Jersey City DoubleTree in July 2014 on the HHonors floor. I had called ahead a few days earlier to ensure that each room had two double beds and a pullout sofa bed, which I was assured was the case.

Unfortunately, after being promised two rooms with two double beds, one of the rooms had a king bed. This was annoying because we were all planning to have separate beds, but two of us ended up sharing the king, and it wasn't a huge deal. The front desk gave us breakfast coupons to make amends, which was nice.

Breakfast, however, was a service disaster--though not the fault of the staff that was working. They were understaffed and admitted they were overwhelmed by the number of patrons. We waited to be seated, waited for plates, waited for silverware, waited for cups, waited for coffee, etc., as did everyone else in the restaurant. The poor servers were running around doing the best they could, but three waiters on a busy Sunday morning breakfast wasn't fair to them or to any of the guests.

Last, the sofa bed in one of the rooms had a blood stain on the sheets that we discovered the next morning.

Beds were comfortable, but the issues made our stay not worth the price we paid. Also, they charge for wifi.

Dear 6092014,
Thank you for staying with us recently and for your valued feedback. I can understand your frustration when you confirmed double rooms and they were not available when you arrived and I was also concerned to read about your restaurant experience. I regret that we fell below your expectation overall. It is only through comments such as yours that we can ensure that we make improvements and in this regard I thank you for the time taken to bring your concerns to my attention. Should you be back in the area, please contact me directly to make a reservation for you so that I can assure you that your previous experience was an isolated one.

It was our first stay at The Doubletree chain. I was able to make a reservation with a AAA discount at a reasonable rate of $137.oo per night. We were greeted by the front desk supervisor who was somewhat unhelpful but with a little prodding, I got what I wanted and was promised. I told him we were assured by the reservation agent on the telephone, a 2 room/2double bed suite with a French door separating the living room from the bedroom. The desk clerk told us at that AAA rate we were getting a Jr. Suite with a half wall. After persistence, he agreed to give us the 2 room /2 double bed suite that we were originally promised. Customer service was not his strong suit. The suite was nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was large. We had a corner suite, room 314 with no view but was extremely quiet. I would stay there again. A few tips: I #1 Be persistent if you were assured a 2 room suite and the clerk tries to give you something less, #2, No one bothered to mention that if you have an AT&T acct., you can log in and have free internet access, otherwise the hotel will charge you $13 a day for internet, we found that out on our own luckily before we bought internet access. There was nowhere for visitors of guest to park except in the $25 parking lot. The only reason I am not giving this hotel a 5 is the lack of customer service from the front desk and the withholding of the internet information and the poor parking situation for the visitors of the guest.

Room Tip: AT&T internet subscribers-Free internet otherwise, pay $13 a day. Corner rooms are large (Room...

great hotel, nice location, wonderful friendly staff. parking was good price, just $25. The rooms as usual, big, clean and quiet. We really liked the staff members. They really are into making your stay a neat one and they really know what is the meaning of service industry. Gym is small but enough for anybody.
