We always take visitors here! It has nice paths as well as a visitor center and barbecues. Great for taking a long walk, run, or bike with terrific views of the city, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty.

A wonderful experience to take a walk in the park on a Spring or Summer day. The view of the New York Skyline is breathtaking. You can see across the Hudson River to the place where the Twin Towers stood. Nearby is Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The Russian gift to the United States entitled the "Tear" is also nearby, given as a memorial of the tragic events of September 11.

This park along the waterfront in Jersey City is well worth a visit. For exercise or just relaxing. There is also a ferry at the end to the Statue of Licerty and Ellis Island. Usally much less of a line than the Manhattan side.

I am from New York and have taken the trip down to Battery Park and the boats to the Statue of Liberty many times, but while in Newark with my boyfriend who has never seen the statue or Ellis Island before we went a different route and took a trip to Liberty State Park from our hotel to see the statue of Liberty and Ellis Island - Let me tell you! The atmosphere was wonderful! They have an old closed down Railroad Station that is so picturesque! The water view is beautiful, the crowds are a lot less then going to Battery park and the lines a whole lot shorter! We could have spent the whole day just walking around the waterfront there instead of hopping a boat as well. I would recommend this way to see the statue for sure! Battery Park is a great experience but the relaxed atmosphere of Liberty State Park was sooo much better!
