My husband and I spent Thanksgiving in NYC; actually, in Jersey City. We booked on Booking.com and paid a very fair price for our 3 nights at the Holland Hotel. It's a short walk to the PATH train to take you to Manhattan. The continental breakfast is OK - you have to take it back to your room. Our room faced traffic entering the Holland Tunnel, which was noisy at all hours. Great value since you can't pay less than $300/nite on Manhattan.

How better to see new York than a room with a skyline view, on the underground routes just like being right in Manhattan... they say breakfast in the room and that is what is provided along with seating, fridge and microwave in the room... takeaway delivers to the door of your room too... parking is plenty, right near the tunnel so taxis cheap from central Manhattan, near to the PATH rail, with a shopping mall in five minute walk... listen, who goes to New York and expects the safety of the suburbs? I never once felt unsafe here

Staff are beyond helpful, a professional and human approach and it makes all the difference when they are needed... they have great advice on traveling the local area and to get all you need

I can't understand the bad reviews which I assume are written by adults? Be realistic, the value of this place can't be beaten anywhere in this area

Pros...

Comfy beds
Great facilities in rooms
Choice of breakfast items
Location...can't get better for this price
New York on a budget, this is the place to be
PC and WiFi access for planning your day etc

Cons..

adults do use the rooms, it's not a chucky cheese
No communal areas for eating..who needs it?

I have stayed here many times and never had a problem.

This is a great place to sleep & gear up for a trip under the river. You can park your car, walk through the mall, and take the PATH train to Manhattan.

This isn't a resort, it's in New Jersey, right next to the Holland Tunnel. If you were expecting the Four Seasons, this isn't the place for you.

If you're put off by other reviews, don't stay here. I'll be glad you didn't.

Found this online as a bargain. Been driving by it for four years and never noticed it.

Nothing fancy but clean as can be with a comfortable bed and everything you need. WiFi, nice breakfast, pleasant and helpful staff, and quiet.

I will stay here again.

I had to come to New Jersey unexpectedly because my son became very ill and was hospitalized. I needed a place to stay that was near the hospital. Right from arrival the Asst. Manager and desk clerk were there to help. All through my stay most of the staff was very friendly and caring. My room was on the traffic side and at first I was very concerned. However it didn't turn out to be a problem. The room was very comfortable, exceptionally clean and well appointed. Bathroom was fine and again, very clean. The desk staff helped with taxis, maps and tips on the Path system and Light Rail system, resturants etc. Only real issue is size of lobby. No room to eat breakfast or wait for a cab. Breakfast was fine...not huge, but didn't expect much and was actually surprised at what was offered. They began some hallway renovations while I was there but it did not interfere with my stay. Nice to see them stay up on renovations. Overall it is a good place as long as you aren't expecting the Westin!

Room Tip: Most people say to stay on the parking lot side. I got street side in Room 264 which was fine. With...

This place is a good place to stay. It is really close for the Statue Of Liberty easy to drive to. It also is within view of the walk way to the Hudson river and provides a great view of Manhatten which is fantastic in the evening. A nice safe walk with a shopping mall on the way back to the motel The front desk young lady that works the afternoon shift is really great and informative about the area. The price is very nice compared to the N Y side

Location was perfect as you can walk to the PATH train station in 10 minutes through the shopping centre that could take you to trade centre in 7 minutes and on 32nd avenue in 15 minutes plus you can find some great bargains in the shopping centre on the way. Breakfast area is very small. but u are spoiled for choice. Andrea on reception was so helpful to us from ordering taxis, to phone cards and nothing was a problem she is a huge asset to this hotel so thank you. To get a nice friendly hello from Quentan in the mornings who remembered our names was brill. We had a great time on our trip and hopefully will return to stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter.
