“Awesome views, superb location, excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for our 1st year anniversary, a coworker suggested it to me rather than staying in NYC. I was worried about transportation and was unfamiliar with NJ area. Well, I worried for nothing. Not only is this a Hyatt hotel and is held up to the high standards Hyatt hotels are known for, but the location is awesome, PATH train is feet steps away and brings you up into World Trade area, only a 5-7 min. wait. We had bad weather one day and decided to eat in at their restaurant, it was a little pricey, but the food and the views out the window made up for it. It is a very romantic setting. As for the rooms, they were spacious, unlike in NY, and the beds were the best I ever had in any hotel. We are going back next month, can't wait!

My wife and I had booked a stay here for one night. We're both Platinum members and the day prior to check-in, the hotel's VIP Coordinator emailed us asking if there was anything we needed. We said that we'd love an upgrade if one was available, since we had actually gotten married at the hotel a few years ago, and have super fond memories of the place (we used to live in Jersey City and up until we moved away to Texas, we had dinner at Vu every anniversary).

We were astounded when we received an upgrade to the Hudson River Suite. The room looked fantastic (and very different from when we stayed at the bridal suite, and that itself was already beautiful) -- great views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, Verrazano Bridge and, of course, the Hudson River. The room's decor was modern, and plenty spacious (helpful since we had our 15-month old kid with us).

Other pros of the hotel:

- Right by the PATH station so it's a no-brainer if you want high quality with city convenience
- Great service - everyone we encountered had a terrific attitude
- Shower pressure (really important to me) was perfect

I can't really find anything to complain about, so thanks to Yvonne and the whole team there. It was truly a wonderful stay.

Very professional staff. Ana was very welcoming during check in and so were the rest of the staff.
Room was clean, large and convenient with everything required.
Shower stream was a bit disappointing but not critical.
The views from the room and lobby are amazing (see the picture at sunrise). Location is great as well, close to Newport mall (5 min by light train that is a min walk from hotel), a minute walk to PATH train to NY city (WTC station).
Overall very good experience would return for business trips again.

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt in Jersey City for three days in July 2013. It was just not possible to get over the fabulous view. Every time we'd get off the Path train from Manhattan, we'd think "oh my gosh!". The vista of lower Manhattan is just wonderful... from the property, from the Vue restaurant in the hotel... from the surrounding area.

But a view does not a hotel make. Before we booked, I read the reviews which were somewhat mixed. But we took a chance and are glad we did. Some of the reviews said the hotel was somewhat dated or worn looking. We are picky, and we found the hotel to be lovely. The lobby was nice, the carpet and walls in the hallway on our floor were in good condition, and the room was well appointed. Whew! When we book an unknown, we are so relieved to find it meeting our hopes.

One of the highlights was the staff. From check-in to the concierge(s), the housekeeper, wait staff, doormen, manager, everyone went above and beyond. We received great restaurant recommendations and accurate directions. We did eat at the Vue in the hotel a couple times too. Delicious and interesting menu. Loved the food! And of course, the view from the Vue is unparalleled!

It's easy to get from the Hyatt Jersey City to lower Manhattan. The Path train is just below Exchange Place. It's one stop to the World Trade Center station. From there, you can easily walk to a subway station and get wherever you are going in Manhattan.

We flew into Newark Liberty Airport (EWR). It was fairly straight forward getting to the Hyatt using public transportation. Take the airtrain (that runs within the airport) to the Airtrain station. From there, take a train to Newark Penn Station. And then the Path to Exchange Place. I think the trip cost us about $12 pp.

And now for the topper... there is a Starbucks just across the small plaza from the Hyatt. "Is there a Starbucks near you?" is always my first question to a hotel concierge :-) The next time we're NYC, we Will be staying at the Hyatt in Jersey City. Wonderful!

Room Tip: We asked for a king room with a view. Only a few rooms have that lower Manhattan view. Those rooms...

LindaForThePeople,

What an amazing review! We are so glad you had a wonderful time and were able to get your Starbucks. By the looks of your photo it seems you got lucky and were able to capture the FDNY boat passing through; thanks for sharing. Let us know when you plan your trip back!

Ok. People may think that they will get the the best view of New york city, Manhattan by living in Manhattan.. But that is not true, you cannot see the sky scrapers from Manhattan itself. This can be done, when you are on other side of the island, which is Jersy city in New jersy jurisdiction. You get the most spectacular view of twin tower supplemented by others from this hotel if you book that side facing room. This is the same view that you get when you go on the ferry to Statue of Liberty.
For all world travelers, it looks very beautiful at night. Close train station is Exchange Place path train.

I just stayed at the Hyatt Jersey City for a week long teachers academy. I was overwhelmed with how incredibly friendly and helpful the staff was! There were smiles and kind words everywhere! My room was exceptionally clean and beautiful. I was able to fall asleep and wake up to an amazing view of the Statue of Liberty! The Path Train is located directly next to this hotel, making it incredibly easy to get into NYC. My only complaint is that I was so busy that I didn't have more time to fully enjoy this hotel! I strongly recommend the Hyatt Jersey City! You won't be disappointed!!!
