We stayed here for my sister´s wedding and it was a big room with a great view of new york´s skyline. The path is very near and within walking distance there is the newport mall, shoprite supermarket and BJ´s wholesale club (if you dont have a member´s card ask for a day pass at the service counter or borrow another member´s). Lots of eateries too. Fast Check-in and check-out. Drop off area is small

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view

Stayed at the Hyatt the night before our cruise (and to visit some friends in Jersey City). The room was large with a great view of the bridge. Transportation easily arranged by the front desk. A big plus for me was windows that you can open, although not too much since the seagulls were eyeing my snacks.
Highly recommend the Hyatt Jersey City. Nice restaurants within walking distance (like the LightHorse Tavern)

We stayed in an odd-numbered room and since it was facing another building, the noise from the howling storm was incredibly loud. Family staying in even-numbered rooms didn't seem to have the same problem. I took one star away for a different reason, though: too many surcharges/high expenses. For example, my room service bill was over $40 for a single crab cake and a chicken sandwich. But that is the price of luxury, I guess. It's a beautiful hotel with such amazing views. That's really what you're paying for. And the staff was very courteous. I found the concierge particularly helpful. If you want to sample the high life, this is your hotel.

Room Tip: Like I mentioned, if there is bad weather, possibly consider an even-numbered room.

My original trip date was postponed due to Hurrican Sandy hence I found myself at the Hyatt Jersey City just before Thanksgiving 2012.

This was my 7th or 8th trip to NY for business and I have always stayed at the Hyatt for convenience.

Although the trip was brief, and there were still signs of the aftermath of "Sandy" around the hotel (escalator up to the lobby not working etc), it was another very pleasant stay.

The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms well equipped and some with fabulous views over Manhattan and the Financial District of NY. My room was located with a Jersey City view and side view of upper Manhattan on the 4th Floor.

I dined in the restaurant on two evenings during my trip. Both times the food was excellent and served efficiently. The bar is the ideal venue for a cocktail apperatif and opportunity to relax.

My only disappointment this trip was that the Path train was not open and, due to Thanksgiving, the water taxis were not running on one day. This obviously was not anything to do with the hotel but had an impact on my enjoyment (and access to the City).

I would stay at the Hyatt again and definitely recommend it to fellow travellers. Personally I prefer to have a room above 3rd floor (reception) level as it is not overlooked by the boardwalk at the side of the hotel.

In summary, great rooms (refurbished), central location, good restaurant, wi-fi access, great views and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above reception level

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay this week at the Hyatt. It is amazingly convenient to Manhattan, with the PATH Exchange Place station steps away, as well as to Northern New Jersey, with I-78, I-280, I-95 and the Garden State Parkway very close by. The hotel is clean, quiet, and very comfortable. My room had a very nice sofa adjacent to a huge picture window overlooking the Hudson. Room service is fast and very affordable. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Lots of smiles. I enjoy staying at this hotel and will be back soon!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the south side overlooking the water.

As what fellow reviewers have mentioned earlier, PATH's post-Sandy schedule to Lower Manhattan is reduced and has affected service through Exchange Place Station which is adjacent to the property. The closest alternate station would be Grove Street which is about four blocks away and is walkable...during the daytime at least. The Hyatt website mentions of a scheduled shuttle service but I never used it so it would be advisable to ask the front desk regarding this as well as checking the PATH website for updates on the restoration. However, when PATH does return to it's full schedule, the Hyatt Jersey City really is a convenient option! A world away from the hustle and bustle across the Hudson yet easily accessible within minutes via the subway.

The rooms I've stayed in the past are the typical Hyatt design with one nice perk: views of Manhattan! What better way to wind up a day of sightseeing than to step back and enjoy the panoramas from The Vu bar or better yet, start the next day with breakfast at the restaurant while the skyline is bathed in the morning sun! That said, it looks like you'll be paying for the views for that breakfast buffet as otherwise it's the typical full service hotel fare.

Staff-wise, all the employees I've encountered were pleasant and always full of information about what to see/eat/do across the Hudson!

Nearby there are some restaurants, in particular a diner that's soon to be open 24 hours a day (they were going through a soft opening while I was there), but for the most part the immediate area is dead after business hours. Thank heavens for the convenience of that PATH station!
