My family of five stayed at this hotel over the New Year's weekend. We stayed four nights. The hotel was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful and courtious. We got two rooms that were adjoining to accomadate our family of five. What I loved most is that they gave us the second room for half price since it was just needed for the kids. Loved this option for a family of 5!!!
We were greated so politely and felt we got great service. They even sent up a birthday cake to our room on the night of our daughter's 16th birthday.
Beautiful views from our room and from the hotel! We could see the Statue of Liberty from the windows in our room!!! That was amazing. Not to mention that we could see fireworks on New Year's Eve.
We had a delicious New Year's Eve dinner in the "Vu" restaurant in the hotel. From my seat, I could see the new World Trade Center Building, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty all lit up at night. We also took lots of great pictures right outside of our hotel facing NYC skyline. It was a great and less expensive option then downtown NYC. We took the PATH train every day into the city. Due to Hurricane Sandy, there were some issues with the trains, but the hotel offered us a shuttle to the next closest PATH station four blocks away. I loved that they were proactive about this problem.
We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay for business travel and within easy walking distance of the pathway to the World Trade Center and near Goldman Sachs, Lord Abbett, Merrill, etc. Would highly recommend and will stay there again when I travel back to the area!

We usually stay in Manhattan when in NYC but a wedding in Jersey City had us spend two nights at the Hyatt. Now, if we're doing anywhere in midtown or lower Manhattan, we'll probably stay here because of the cost differential.

The hotel is fine located on a pier jutting into the Hudson River with outstanding views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The restaurant isn't great but it has a decent bar and a reasonable fitness center (free.) Manhattan prices for food.

The best part is it is right next door to the Path Train which takes you non-stop under the river to the World Trade Center for $2.25. From the WTC it's easy to connect to subways headed uptown or grab a taxi. There's also a water shuttle to downtown a pier away.

So getting to Manhattan is hassle free. The only negative is to park overnight is a huge $32 ripoff and the car isn't even on site so access to it is a pain.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms look up the river toward the Empire State Building. Even number look at the Status...

When theses days...The Path was running fulltime, just a fine location close to Manhattan. Still, the view is splendid. But now the location is struggle if you do'nt wan't be depended on Taxi service after 10 pm when Path shots down. God nows how it,s working on weekends. Would be nice with some info posted in the hotelarea.
Some rooms start to be a bit worn, bathrooms shows thw same sign. Hyatt you can do better!

StockholmSn,

Thank you for providing us with feedback from your stay! Yes, Sandy definitely provided us with many challenges and the PATH has been our main one. You are right in that you should have had more information on the PATH times. We currently have been staying up-to-date in providing our guests information as it comes out but we are also offering a complimentary shuttle to and from the Grove PATH station located up the road for when the Exchange Place station is down. Grove Street is back to a 24hr schedule!

We chose to stay here because we had a family celebration in New Jersey and our daughter lives in Queens. This was half way between the two.The hotel has a wonderful view of Manhatten and pleasant walks along the Hudson.
The service was good and the food high quality although the restaurant menu has limited choices.
The room was modern and comfortable.
As we had a car it was convenient to use valet parking even though it is expensive. It is more of a business than leisure hotel and the surrounding town is quite characterless.
We returned for one night on our way back to UK as we had been in the Carribean and were returning to the UK via Newark. On our first stay there was free wifi but on the second no longer!
I complained and they did not charge it for the one night BUT this is such a scam by hotels as it costs them almost nothing to provide it.

I stayed here in early December at $285/night. The room was just ok. The bathroom had a broken sink bowl and mold in the shower. The furniture was worn. In the restaurant, I ordered a crab pasta dish for $29 and it had one piece of crab in it. The next morning we ordered room service and they only brought half our order and had to go back for the other half. Thirty minutes later they came with the second half. For at $700 night with valet parking, dinner, drinks and breakfast, it was a terrible value. All in all, I would and will spend my money at the Westin. It is a much nicer hotel.
