We had a great stay there. Nice clean rooms. Really nice decor. Couch and fridge in room, but no free internet :( and $32 valet parking.

I have stayed in NYC many times and thought I would try this hotel in Jersey as it was close enough to Manhattan. Got a great deal on TravelZoo. The hotel itself was great, clean, large rooms and friendly staff. The neighborhood quiet, mainly finance offices, so very quiet on the weekends. The PATH is quite close. Maybe because we were out quite late on the weekend, the PATH trains took a while to get to us, then we would sit for 7-10 minutes (we timed it) before we would move away from the station. I would be willingly to spend the extra money on a Manhattan room for sake of saving travel time. If wanted to go back to room to fresehen or rest, it would take a big bite out of the day. It would be OK if most of a trip was spent in lower Manhattan. That's just me. If money is more of a priority over time/convience, then this hotel is fine.

Without question the best place to stay in Jersey City!
Bigger question is this the best value place to stay if only visiting New York City?
The hotel's position makes it feel like you can reach out and touch the skyline.

Stayed here becuase we had a party in Jersey City saturday afternoon and it seemed too much trouble to get a NYC hotel and figure out getting to the party on time.

Very glad we did.
The price I paid on hyatt.com with a AAA discount was insanely low and included full breakfast for 2.
The breakfast was great, top notch service, good, fresh buffet selection, fresh squeezed juice, good coffee, nice dining room with amazing skyline and water views, etc...
Completely for free, no tax, or anything.
Breakfast could use another egg option other than the generic scrambled eggs that did not have much taste but that would be the only possibel breakfast complaint.

Service throughout the entire hotel was fantastic.
The views even from the standard (least expensive) rooms is still great, every room in the hotel is overlooking water, as the hotel sticks out on it's own pier.
Room had a really nice view of the Empire State Building.
Everything is very new and updated in the rooms and common hotel areas, the rooms are on the smaller side but I had no complaints.
The overall look is much more modern than my tastes but the view makes up for it.

Area around the hotel is very nice and very safe at all hours.
The PATH is right outside the enterence, literally a 30 foot walk!!!
Getting to the WTC site is a breeze and only cost $2

Jersey City is very quiet on the weekends and if you want to feel a part of the hustle and bustle and in the city, then staying in midtown Manhatten would be better in that regard.
But you would never get a view like this for anything even 1/3 the price.

In fact we actually ended our Jersey City party around midnight and decided to head over to Manhatten on the PATH. Could not have been easier and felt very safe even in these early morning hours. Returned at around 3 AM to the hotel also on the PATH.

Hotel had a exercise area and pool but I did not use, the pool is very small.

If you want a view I would recommend this to anyone staying in NYC that would otherwise never consider a hotel in Jersey, it really is easy to get to Manhatten from this hotel and only 1 stop to WTC.
For the price it may be the best value in all of NYC., especially if you can get the free breakfast deal.

Parking was the only real negative which is at NYC rates of $32 per night
Service wise: they allowed us early check at 11:30 AM, which gave us time to change and relax before the party which was very nice and although we did not take advantage of it, they allow the parking to run until 5 PM on check out day and offer to hold bags at no charge if you want to visit the city that day.

Your very thorough review is so helpful and we love to see this PERFECT rating! We, too, believe we have a great location, but what is even better is that you enjoyed our service. Your feedback about breakfast is very valuable and I also want to make a suggestion for your next trip. If you are enjoying our Full American Breakfast buffet, which it sounds like you were, you may ask your server for eggs cooked in a different style and we will prepare them specially at no extra charge. We truly hope you will return so we can make your stay even more fantastic than before!

The view from our hotel room was the Manhattan skyline. All rooms on one side of the hotel face the skyline. Everyone was friendly from Charles in the transportation department to William the concierge. William found out it was my granddaughter's 7th birthday and sent cheesecake from room service to our room. My granddaughter was thrilled. Our room was clean and the housekeeping department did a great job. The hotel is very close to the path train that takes you into NYC. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay in this hotel again especially if we would get another winter special rate.

Room Tip: When you book your room ask for a skyline view.

This is a beautiful hotel right on the water with wonderful views. We stayed for two nights and spent most of each day in NYC, but the rooms were clean, and comfortable. The lounge is large ans spacious and offers dinners and cocktails/snacks and has a spectacular view. We had one problem with our luggage. We came in early and our rooms were not ready, so the bellman took our luggage and said it would be locked up for the day until we came back from the city and checked into our rooms. When we came back to the hotel after a long, fun day in NYC at 11pm, to our shock and dismay, our luggage was still sitting on the rolling rack in the main lobby, where it had sat all day, unattended. Nothing was missing, and the hotel was very gracious in that they reduced our room rate for both nights to try and make up for the oversight. I woud stay there again, but would make certain that they locked up my luggage before leavig the hotel instead of relying on their assurance.

Room Tip: Our room had a view of the statue of Liberty and the water taxis, going back and forth to Manhattan.

Jersey City is very suitable for starting your visit to NY. You get a splendid view of the skyline of Manhattan from the breakfast room, but do not expect to have it from your room, except you are planning to stay in one of the very expensive suites. The pool is not nice either and it is closed during the night. There is no shower beside the pool and no changing room either, so you'll have to go back wet into your room. The gym is small but it is open 24 hrs. which is ok. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, good sleeping quality. The breakfast room is spectacular, breakfast cost extra but don't miss it, it is the highlight of the day, except for the aircon. which is freeezing... The reception of the hotel doesn't look nice but the service is absolutely professional and friendly. All in all, and despite these little details, I highly recommend you this hotel.

Thank you for the perfect rating and for all of the highly valuable feedback! We are thrilled to see how much you enjoyed your stay and we are glad to know the areas where we can exceed your expectations on your next visit to Jersey City. When you do make your way back from Switzerland, you may enjoy one of more moderately priced Skyline View rooms which offer the same view as our best suites. Danke!
