When you're ate the Jersey City B&B, you feel at home. The owner Lonnie gives you complete access to the property and the amenities. The breakfast spread is perfect, you can't expect better at a B&B. Overall, the experience, the value and the proximity to Manhattan makes this B&B a great stay.

We had 4 guys staying there for a competition at nearby St. Peter's College. This place certainly got the job done. The King Room had a great amount of space, with a spacious king room, another double bed room, an office/food space and bathroom. Given that the price was comparable to the grundgiest motels in the area - and we had two rooms - it was definitely worth it. Breakfasts were whipped up quickly for us, as we were in a rush to get out. It's not the Taj Mahal, but as long as you're not expecting that, you're fine. No real complaints.

My wife and I are in our late 60's but had the King Suite on the first floor of the property. This is a three story townhouse. Walk in the entrance, turn right and there is your room. Actually two bedrooms connected by an office/passage way where the bathroom is located. The king bed is very comfortable. I lifted the sheets and saw that the mattress was actually three foam egg crate toppers piled on top of each other (and no sign of bed bugs). I may actually explore the concept the next time we need a mattress. The building is old with a number of crude repairs made. None of the furniture matches, and no lamps bedside. NEVERTHELESS, the floors and bathroom were clean. The shower is narrow with barely enough room to turn around, but sufficient to get the job done. Adequate towels were provided.
Up one flight of stairs, and you are on the main floor where you have access to the kitchen area and small table for 4 to eat at. The rest of the second floor is occupied by the owner and two grand kids.
The third floor has a suite and another smaller bedroom. I peaked in the suite. Very large with a balcony with NYC views.
The B&B is located on a one way street in an older part of Jersey City. Use Google to look at the street and you will understand. We took a taxi to and from the Journal Square path station. Usually $6 or $7 per trip.
So, knowing that you are not staying at the Hyatt, at roughly three times the price, and accepting the conditions, you should be good. My wife and I discussed it, and decided we would stay there again.

We just visited NYC for the weekend and stayed at the B&B, it is very clean and very accessable to the PATH train into the city. We stayed in the Suite and the room was comfortable, the air conditioner was a little loud but worked well. The kingsize bed is very FIRM, not my taste but my husband loved it. I would recommend bringing your own towels as there are only 2 in the room and they are small and well used. For the money this is an EXCELLENT value. The breakfast was very good, and cooked to order. Our room was cleaned every day and other than the place being a little dated had all the ammenities. The walk to the Train station takes a minute so you may want to call a cab if you plan to walk alot in the city. We didn't do that and regretted it. We had a balcony and the view of the Freedom Tower is directly in front of you, it was spectacular.

For the price you pay you simply won't find anything as good as this in the NYC area! Overall I was very impressed, the place was quiet and homely, our room was clean, had cable tv, wi-fi and everything else you could need and the cooked breakfast was good. My only slight complaint would be that the service wasn't overly friendly. The lady who ran the place while we stayed was almost always on her cell phone during breakfast and didn't service our room - the part time girl however was much more chatty, made our beds and replenished our drinks so a big thanks to her! I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Pro: clean, great price, Lonnie very easy to work with. Has refrig in kitchen, lots of room and food. First room suite has million dollar view of manhattan. Closet space good. Stairs almost killed me (out of shape). Second room downstairs on first floor 2 bedrooms was spacy. Shower small. Very Large beds. Walk to subway 10 minutes. Con : driveway parking too too small especially when other guest hog up the space! Parking in street only 2 hrs. Place a little dated. But on a budget is fine. WHY the mayor/governed doesn't fix that neighborhood?!? Million dollar view in ghetto like environment. That place could be worth tons with upscale condos with shops. Staff was wonderful!!!

"It's cheap" is the best thing I can say about it, that and you get what you pay for. The sheets were never changed, and "nobby" because they are worn. The upper floors always smell of bacon and eggs because that's where the smoke goes from the kitchen (believe me it gets old). Old tooth paste in the cupboards, hair in the worn out bath matt, hair in the shower, mold in the corners of the shower. Apparently that woman that makes your breakfast expects a tip (we didn't realize that) after the first day if you don't tip her, the room doesn't get attention. Owner lives on the middle floor, laundry is in the room on the bottom floor. If you don't get up and out soon enough, you will get a knock on the door because she needs to get some laundry done...ridiculous. Will never go back...
First red flag should have been when they ask for payment in full up front - DON'T DO IT!
