Pretty decent for the price

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 2, 2017via mobile
We booked this hotel because we had a 10 hours layover in Newark Airport. We liked it. It was at a decent price $54 per night, room was clean, breakfast was better that most of the airport overpriced restaurants and they offer 24 hours airport free shuttle, that was very important to us. I'll recommend it. It's not a 5 stars hotel, but works for getting rest. If you're coming to this hotel and need the shuttle service here's some advice to save a few minutes: take the air train and go to P4 station, once you're there go down stairs and use one of the phones to call the hotel and let them know you need the shuttle, bus will arrive within 10 minutes.

I hate to leave a terrible review for a place that at first seemed fine. Unfortunately, this hotel has a mouse infestation. The first sign was when opening the sofa bed (if you need to stay here, don't touch the sofa bed) - and out spilled a bunch of mice droppings. This was a disgusting find because we had already been sitting on the couch for hours before discovering the droppings inside. In the night we heard mice scurrying and squeaking in the ceiling very clearly. Finally, in the morning, we saw one run across the room. Until the management here can address and resolve this issue, I do not recommend this hotel to anybody unless you don't mind mice.

Other things to note:
- You can hear every movement from the guests above you as the floors squeak and thud.
- The AC unit would not shut off, so we had to unplug it.

Other than that, it seemed fine for a night. What else do you expect for a Best Value Inn?

Room tip: Probably best off on the top floor somewhere, although we were on the second floor and had the mice.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I am very disappointed to hear of the experience you had while staying with us. We make a tremendous effort to ensure the utmost cleanliness of the Hotel and it seems as though we failed you. I urge you to call me directly at 973.375.4102 ext. 260. I assure you that our pest control procedures are very thorough and exceed industry standards. We will certainly communicate your experience with our pest control company, and I will personally inspect the room you stayed in to ensure that the issue is tackled head-on because it's certainly not consistent with our track record (we've achieved highest brand QA scores for 7 yrs consecutively). Again, I can not express how disappointed I am that we did not meet your expectations, and I look forward to speaking with you about your experiences.

We stayed her for 3 nights and it was so so. The price was good and the rooms were ok. The neighborhood was horride, they need a gated property. There were groups of people in the parking lot, drunks in the hallways. The halls smelled of urine. Even being a bad neighborhood wasnt the worse it was just there should be an alert as to the area. I dont think I would stay or reccommend staying here until the property was completly gated

Thank you for taking the time to share a comment with us.We always gain insight into the areas of improvement and we work very hard to make it an enjoyable experience for our guests. I would like to offer my most sincere apology due to the noise during the night; I know can be disturbing Holiday time when anyone can get drunk or just simple excited and we can not control guest behavior. As for your safety concerns we are aware of our neighborhoods surroundings and guest safety is a top priority.Thank you once again for choosing our property and hope you give us another chance in the future.

I am not sure why this hotel is still on trip advisor list or even listed in the search online for hotels. This hotel is the worst experience I have ever had since traveling in eight years for business. After changing my flight from JFK, I had to find a hotel that was able to get me from the airport to Manhattan, I saw this hotel online, from the pictures and I decided to stay there, didn't read the reviews, had I done so I wouldn't be writing this review as I would not have stayed there. Looking to speak to hotel manage, think again. The hotel is not bad when it comes to cleanliness, though only one elevator and worked only half the time I was there, it was the customer service that got me. The manager was RUDE, spoke loud and will even go as far as telling her gues to SHUT up! May be a cheaper place to stay, but the service is TERRIBLE. Spend you money where you are respected. NOT 100 Union Avenue, Irvington. New Jersey.

Staff members need to give guest priority during meals. and probably not speak there own language infront of guests.
and the shuttle needs to improve with timing.
Overall great experience.
